Hi,

We have tickets to see the Space Shuttle Launch on July 1st while on our vacation. Any other people going? My DH thinks this may be the last shuttle they ever launch. It will certainly be a moment to be remembered by our children.

Not this one, but we're going to be down in August, and they have another scheduled for 8/28, so we may try to extend our vacation for a extra 2 days if they are going to have it.

Post a trip report after, I'd love to hear how it went; we want to get the tickets and see it from the KSC also.

boohoo--I will miss it.

I can see them from the front yard of my house--but we are gone this month and next in DC. So I can't see them :(. Hopefullly we will catch 8/28. Though I may not be home then either :(.

I won't be there for the Space Shuttle but I am going down this week and they have a rocket launch scheduled for Tuesday so we are going to spend that day at KSC instead of WDW. I love the space program so I can't wait to be able to experience this. :thumbsup2 :cool1:

Just curious..... Why does your DH think this may be the last shuttle launch?

I am wondering the same thing.

We will be staying in Cocoa Beach for a week for the launch before we head to disney for 7 nights. I can't wait! My husband works for NASA so the kids are excited to see what daddy does!!!

Yes we will be there. My ds is very excited. We will be going down for the day from Sarasota. We are staying on the beach for a few days before heading to our first WDW trip. Why do you and your DH believe this will be the last launch? What time are you planning on arriving? Are you going to tour the facilities first? We have tickets to do the tour, and then will be going to the launch afterwards.

I had heard something vaguely at one point of winding down the shuttle missions. With the last launch--they still found issues with debris on launch after reviewing launch video and upon doing the inspection once in space.

If that keeps occurring--the risk for another Columbia increases and they won't allow that to happen.

Just what I recollect--not sure if her DH is having preminitions of something different.

Of all the launches that have taken place since we moved to Florida--the only one I missed was Columbia's final launch. :guilty:

Well, my husband read an article on-line that said that they have 3 scheduled, but if this one does not good well they may scrap the rest.

If they do eventually sell tickets to the 8/28 launch, you need to go online at the exact time to get the best viewing tickets. I decided to call that morning and couldn't get through. So then I went online, I'm talking the difference between 9:00 AM and 9:05 AM. They said they had the tickets and while I was filling out the payment info they sold out. So, you need to be right there at the start time.
