arguing with credit card companies that call you on the phone wanting to send you one of their applications for their credit cards? I had 2 calls yesterday from 2 different cc companies. I have cc's with BOTH companies already! One hung up after I told them the 50th time that I was NOT interested in getting something I already have! But there was one that I had to finally be rude and hang up on him! He got on my nerves BAD. Talked 90 miles an hour (I know a lot about him now:rolleyes: ), wouldn't stop talking, and wouldn't take no for an answer. He called back again tonight. The same KID! I have their card, but I doubt I will for much longer!

They usually give up when I tell them they can send me one but they can't check my credit record.

Jason, I'd have to program numbers I know in the caller ID, my stupid phone company doesn't supply numbers for me.

One_cat, they used to hang up on me when I was a student and was unemployed.:) I might have to fib just so I won't have to resort to hair pulling the next time.;)

Get a "zapper" from Radio Shack. It's a little gizmo you plug into your phone jack.

The phone rings, you answer it, and if it's a computer-dialed call from a telemarketer, it "zaps" the number from their computer, disconnects the call, and that computer will not call you again.

We've cut down alot of calls with it.

I needto get one of those zappers. Are they expensive?
I love it when I check my answering machine and I get can I speak to ............. Hello... hello.......click.

Amen to that..Since I got caller id...0 solicitors...:smooth:

Telemarketer calls show up as "unavailable" so I don't even bother to answer them anymore. If for some stupid reason I do decide to answer, I just tell them right off the bat I'm not interested and I tell them NOT to call again, and I hang up...even if they are still talking. :) The calls that REALLY annoy me are the ones that leave messages on my answering machine!!

and hang up. I get so many pieces of mail from Credit Cards. I usually just rip off my name and any corresponding numbers on the sheet that is supposed to be returned and mail it back ( Their expense). I wonder what they say when they receive a blank form LOL!

YIKES! I tell them no thanks, I am debt free regarding credit cards .. and don't want to be raked through the coals yet again...

They don't know what to say, and I hang up!

I hang up. I don't speak, I don't listen. If I answer my phone, and it is not someone I choose to have a conversation with, I hang up.

I hate all types of solicitation! I have phone guard on my system. People must hit 1# to get thru to me. Of course a computer can't figure that out so it disconnects them. People that call me on a regular basis don't get the message to hit 1# - I can have them programmed in to bypass it.

Prior to phone guard.....

Is your basement wet????? I told my kids to tell them we don't have a basement (even though we do).

A couple days later someone called selling replacement windows - and my DD asked if she should tell them we don't have windows.

I usually ask them to hold on while I clean the blood up off the floor. Then I start yelling to my DW that the cops will be here any minute, and that she better get out of here.

For some reason when I get back on the phone no body is there.:D

I get the machine that doesn't realize I've picked up. So I answer & it doesn't talk. I too tell telemarketers I'm not interested and do NOT call back.

Next time, Tony, tell them you're delivering a baby and ask them to hold on a minute.;)

LOL, WW.:p Did your dd tell them that?:teeth:

Disney Doll, my SO hangs up on them, but I really hate to hang up on people-regardless who they are.:o But I hate having them argue with me over something they have no right to argue about with me!

Cindy, I tell them no thanks and they like to argue with me for some reason. I thought the other night that kid and I were gonna start a name calling thing.

Uncle Tony, I should mail them back their empty envelopes.:teeth: With my luck they'd send me more junk mail.

Chatty, that annoys me too. Their message sounds like I called them wanting them to call me. Yeah like I'm that stupid. They need to leave me alone.

Hey Todd.

P-nut, I'm interested in knowing the answer to that question as well. Pig Pen, how much was yours?:) Thanks for letting us know about them.:)

Mom2Boys, are you talking about the zapper too or is what you have something else?:)

I LOVE my caller ID. As someone else said, it prints out the word "Unavailable" whenever it's a solicitor. Since I got caller ID, I've spoken with zip, zero, nada solicitors. Best money I ever spent! :p

I have one of those dancing hamster's that sings " Everybody was Kung Fu fighting" . I keep it by the phone and hold it up to the receiver whenever a telemarketer calls. They usually don't call back

caller ID here too:D

When "Unknown Caller" is displayed we don't answer....(that means it's a tellemarketer).

Our state recently instituted a no call system. If an individual registers for the no call list, telemarketers are forbidden to call.
Ours went into effect November 1. The telemarketing calls have been completely eliminated.:D

We have Caller ID with "Privacy Manager", that completely eliminates unknown, private, and unavaible callers.Your phone will not even ring.
The calling party will get a greeting saying there name or number is not showing, so they can get through ONLY if they state there name or business.....if they don't, your phone will not ring.If they state there name your phone will then ring and identify the caller, then you have 3 choices...........1. accept the call .2.play the telemarketer refusal, and don't call again. 3. let the machine take a message.
We never ever get telamarketers anymore. No more "Private" calls or Unavailable calls. This is very worth the $4 a month.:p
