Is anyone else worried about being charged a ton of $10 cancellation fees?

With all the agony people have been posting about the serious problems they've had recently linking reservations, trying to set up magic bands, etc. - their reservations disappear, they get unlinked from the other members of their party, their park tickets disappear, and more - I am starting to worry about glitches in the ADR system as well.

I'm going in a couple of weeks. From the 180-day mark, there were problems with the updated MDE and ADRs in the system. Over the past six months there have been a ton of posts about ADRs disappearing and reappearing. I have had to re-add ADRs on my own MDE page at least a half-dozen times. Sometimes they go away and come back on their own.

We have a TON of ADRs. And over the past 6 months, I have rearranged our days a few times, and dropped, added and changed ADRs more times than I can count.

For the first few months, every time I dropped an ADR it would tell me that my original confirmation # was now my cancellation #. Then more recently I would just get a message saying "your reservation has been cancelled" with no mention of a cancellation #.

Last night I did a (hopefully final) overhaul of our dining, and made probably another 15 drops and adds. This time, some of the ADRs I tried to cancel gave me a message saying they couldn't be cancelled online, and that I needed to call. This wasn't even consistent in terms of restaurants - in come cases, I was able to cancel one ADR online but had to call to cancel the second AT THE SAME RESTAURANT.

When I called, the automated system gave me a 5-digit cancellation code that I had never gotten with any of the cancellations I'd done over the past 6 months. Um, what?

For some of the restaurants, the original ADR wasn't showing up on MDE but I still had the confirmation # on my spreadsheet, so I was able to call and cancel. But there were some ADRs I was pretty sure I'd cancelled that still showed up on MDE last night - I cancelled them again, but have little confidence that it "took."

Honestly, over the past 6 months and with so many drops and adds, I am sure there will be an ADR (or ADRs) that I somehow deleted off my spreadsheet after canceling without saving the original cancellation number.

I am now imagining a scenario where a bunch of the ADRs that I cancelled end up "coming back" in the system (I think this has happened a bunch of times recently when they restore after some kind of server crash or other system problem), and I will return from my trip to find a ton of $40 charges ($10 times the 4 of us going) on my credit card.

Am I alone in this concern? Has anyone already had this problem?

It's not a problem. Disney is very good about canceling and/ or refunding those deposits

I got an email reminder for an ADR that I know I cancelled. I even got the cancellation confirmation email.

After I cancelled it, it was removed from MDE.

After getting the email reminder, I was able to relink it to MDE, and it showed as a valid ADR.

I cancelled it again. Again got a cancellation email.

If I do get charged a fee for any cancelled ADRs, I'll call and offer to fax/email the cancellation confirmation. I'm sure they would reverse the charge.

I'm never concerned for two reasons:
1) It's Disney.
2) It's a credit card, so you can contest the charge if needed.

:goodvibes

I think there was a glitch in the system last night. I, too, attempted to cancel 2 ADRs and received a message saying I could not cancel online and had to call. I tried again this morning and had no issues cancelling the same 2ADRs online. This happened to me a couple of weeks ago too. I have not had any ADRs that failed to link but did have issues receiving confirmation emails although those ressies showed up in MDE. :confused3

I am also having problems canceling online....I get nervous that I will forget to cancel something. I don't want the $10 charges and don't want to tie up a ressie that someone else could have.

Just call dining. Hopefully you used the same phone number. They can look them all up by your number and go through what their system has you having. Mde is a disaster. The dining line system is what matters.

Call and talk to a live person, see where your reservations are at. Also hold on to all cancellation emails and write down any given confirmation numbers so you have something to present if there is an issue.

This problem is/still is happening.

Is anyone else being sent email reminders for ADRs that were cancelled and no longer showing in MDE?

I think I received one or two. As long as I have the email confirming the cancellation (which I routinely save), I'm not worried - I know they'll reverse the charge when I protest it.
