Is anyone else thinking of Oct. '05?

Given this year's horrible hurricane pattern, I'm a little leary about an October trip. We went in Jan./Feb, of this year and had cold, rainy weather for 1/2 the trip and both DS8 and I got bad sinus infections. (We'd gone the same timeframe the previous year and had great, but not pool, weather). Anyway, we're looking at October and wondering if crowds this year were also up because of rescheduled trips, etc.
Any thoughts?
Thanks!

I'd be interested in hearing anything about this also. We're thinking of October '05. Were originally planning for September '05, but the hurricanes got us too nervous. ANd since we live in another hurricane-prone area of the country, we could go there and not have hurricanes there, but meanwhile there'd be one here. So how's October look?

I'm planning for Oct. 2005 also. When would be the least crowded time to go?

Just got back last night and we're already thinking about next fall. Late October is likely because I have a convention at the Swan & Dolphin, so my airfare and the room will be paid for by someone else!

I just booked my reservations at BWV (11 month window) today !!! We'll be there the first week of October - can't wait to take my DGrD, DGrS and nephew to MNSSHP !!!! :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

DH and I are going down for 3 nights prior to the gang for a little alone time and to do F&W fest - hoping they start it by the 1st again next year !:smooth:

Let's all hope the hurricane season bypasses poor Florida next year !!!!:wizard:

As soon as we get back from our upcoming trip, I will start planning for Halloween 2005.

We just returned on Nov.1 and had such a good time that I booked yesterday for our trip in Oct 2005. So far, this has been the best all around trip. Hard to wait a whole year, but it will be worth it!!

I've been the last week of October before and loved it. But, I haven't gone during the Christmas festivities yet, and I want to do that before I go back in October again.

This was our first time to go in October and we loved it better than any other time. It did make me really nervous for the two months prior to the trip as I kept watching hurricanes rip through FL, but I hoping that if we plan again toward mid-late Oct of next year, that it will be OK. Weather was beautiful - crowds were low (through the weekdays), and so much extra going on in the parks compared to other times (F & WF, MNSSHP). We'll be back next October!!!

I'm planning a trip for 7 for the second week of October 2005. Planning for MNSSHP and F & W Fest.

We (group of 4) were there the first week of October 2004 and had a wonderful time. Crowds were managable, weather was great (after the hurricanes), MNSSHP was a blast, and F & W Fest had the greatest food.

Looking forward to a magical trip!

We also just came back and booked another trip for the 3rd week in October. The weather was picture perfect this year.

We're planning our first MNSSHP for next year. Since my son will be starting Kindergarten, we are limited to the first two weeks of Oct. Does anyone know how crowded the parks might be then due to Columbus Day? C Day, that's not a real holiday, is it?

I'm waiting for October 2005 too! I'll be there from the 2nd to the 8th at the BWV. It will be a lot warmer there than here.

(bjakmom- looks like we'll see you there!!)

I'm so excited and hopefgully there will be no more hurricanes at that time of year.

i went this year oct 1- 12 and plan to go around the same time next year.
but, will make it late sept so i can book at the value season.

i have made three sept, mid to late, trips and enjoy the smaller crowds and weather. i'm not worried about hurricanes for 2005 though.

when i go at the end of sept thru early october, i get the best of both worlds.
mnsshp, good weather, smaller crowds then move to hrh and do halloween horror nights. i can't go to one and not the other. hooked.................

From WDW Site....
Wilderness Lodge Value Season
Value Season: 7/5 - 10/4

As long as I check in by 10/4, I should be able to get the value season rate for the WL, right? for then entirety of my trip as long as a stay at the lodge, right? I thought I was told that I kept the "season" rate for when ever I checked in even if the rate season changed during my stay. I hope this is right.

We went mid-month this year and had a great time. I'm really torn on whether to pick the same timeframe again for next year, or push it back to the beginning of December which we have also done twice. These two times have been our favorites. Overall, I like the Christmas activities better, but last year it was a bit too cold for our liking, even as Northeners. Park touring was good, but we missed out on the pool weather. In 2001 when we went, the weather was perfect, so I guess it's hit or miss. It would be nice to put my "next" trip in my sig, but I think it's going to take some more time before we can decide. Decisions, decisions...

just to add, 2004 the value season ended on sept 30, i checked in to allstars oct 1 and paid regular season rates. switched to a special package dream maker and after breaking it down, rate for room still not at value rate.

i haven't checked out wdw site for 2005 yet. had planned to go the last wed in sept. for better air rates...

if you already have your plans for the hotel, then you would know better than i would on that. got back mid october and in the planning stage for 2005.
know my dates i will go, just haven't booked anything yet.

Our schools have a fall break in October, and I would like to go back that week. We have made no plans yet, as we already have an ambitious vacation schedule for 2005 with the BSA National Jamboree being in late July (3 weeks off work, Woo Hoo!!!)

We also want to plan a graduation trip for my youngest son to an island somewhere (probably Curacao) for May 2006, so WDW may not be in the works for 05.

I too would simply adore an October '05 trip. That may not be able to happen if
a) we don't get our mortgage loan approved TODAY. We are currently leasing to buy and we will find out in a few hours if we have "bought the farm"...literally.

or

b) We get the mortgage but can't find someone to watch the business while we are away (we run a horse baording farm).

I would LOVE LOVE LOVE a trip in '05. I need it badly.

We're planning on going the last week of Oct. in 2005. We have fall break as well during this time and went that week in 2002 and 2003. I really missed not going this year. I'm crossing my fingers for some decent discounts!
