Is anyone else SO sad Small World isn't around?

We are a lil bumped out about it. Son is elated that it is closed, cause once he hears the song he cant get it out his head. LOL

IASW is one of MY favorite rides, not so much for that "gets-stuck-in-your-head" song, but for all there is all around to see. Depressed that it is closing, even if just for refurb.

I am keeping my fingers doubly-crossed that it will be up and running again by my trip in May, 2005. (That trip is still in the pre-planning stage, but by hook or by crook, we are going!)

it's closed again! IASM was closed for refurbishment the last time we were at wdw, late aug/early sept of 2001... my kids were disappointed that time and will be again... me too :(

oh no!!
the boys are going on their first trip in Sept, they probably wont care, but I HATE that they'll miss it :(

Oh man! It will be closed for our upcoming trip...at least I'll have time break the news to my daughter. She loves Its a Small World!

While my dh and I always make fun of this ride, we love it, and would never ever do Disney without it... and my dd still likes it a age 6, although she LOVED it at age 2... so I would be sorry about the rehab anyway...

But I'm especially sorry since on this trip we'll have our 6 month old and this is one of the few rides he might have actually enjoyed and basically understood. Oh well! Clearly it needed a rehab.

Every time I think about it, it makes me a little sad! It was the ride my 2 year old loved the most at Disneyland this year, and now his little 2 1/2 year old self won't be able to ride it again at WDW! :(

I am a bit bummed about it too. This will be our first trip and I was looking forward to this ride. Oh well, it's a good reason to go back. :)

My DH will be relieved.

This ride "freaked" him out as a small boy..."A big warehouse with little trapped singing kids"...and even though he conquered it on our last trip, it still gives him the "willies".

I don't get it????

I love this ride. And, I am so dissappointed that my husband won't see it on his first trip here in October. My husband has stated he'd NEVER go to Disneyworld, but finally relented! And, I know he'll have a GREAT time. His family never went anywhere (by choice, not finances) and he grew up not appreciating what Disney actually IS! So, I figured we'd go on Small World first--one of the most charming attractions there is! Oh well! BUt, while we're on the subject, I will mention that I'm not happy so much with the Tiki Birds Under New Management. Iago is so LOUD! The old Tiki Birds was just so pretty to watch, relaxing and fun to listen to. . .I wish they would have just spiced up that show if they felt the need to, but leave the rhythm and flavor alone. . .and, since they wanted to highlight Iago, maybe give him emcee spot!

When my DH and I decided to take our kids to WDW at Christmas the first thing that we said was the IASM ride. It is true once you get the song in your head it never comes out!! But still it is one of my favorite memories of going to WDW when I was a kid with my parents.

I gave my DH a big kiss after i learned that It's a Small World would be out for renovation because he's the one who said that this ride is classic and that we should ride it while we had the chance. I am so happy our DD9 got to ride it (May 2003) because by the time we go back to Disney (after Oct 2004...next trip will be in May 2006) she will not want to ride it anymore (she is already said she's had it with Disney :( )

Anyways...I am so sad that we won't be able to ride it this October.

Count me in as a Sad IASW lover. Not even so much for me - but I thought DD (2) would just love it.

Oh well - something else to show her - next time!

I was sooooo upset when I found out (several months ago) I called my mom and said I didn't want to go! How on earth can I take my boys for their first trip without IASW??? I mean, I'm a horrible mom! They are 5 & 7 and have never been to Disney and now IASW won't be there.

Well, mother's being mothers, she just calmly said since they don't know about it, they won't miss it. :)

Thanks mom! You're the best.

We will be in WDW in December and my DD will be a little over two years old. We were so excited to take her on this ride. When we were there last year she was only 1 and was smiling and pointing to all the dolls singing. This would have been an even more magical moment for us, but Disney needs to close all the attractions some time to make them always look and sound so magical!

Guess we have an excuse to go back again next year when my DD is 3 and Small World is open again!!!:wave2:

The 2nd time my mom took us to WDW, I was probably 13 years old. A real, hormonal, cranky teenage girl! My mom had to plead to get me on IASW, because in my bratty teenage way I didn't want to go on *that* ride! (I know, awful of me!) But when I got on, I so loved it! Gave me goosebumps! :earsgirl:

So, when I took my kids to WDW in April, I couldn't wait to get them on that ride. And ya know what. . . I'm ashamed to admit this.. . .don't hate me. . . .but 1/2 way through IASW, the music *really*started to get on my nerves! It seemed to take *forever* to end! I know. . . sacreligious. . . ;)

So, that being said, I don't think I'll miss it too much. . . :flower3:
