Is Anyone Else Really Stressed About Scheduling their HS Day for later this year?

Stressed is the wrong word for me, more like... Befuddled?

We are going late June/July.

I'm simply finding it impossible to plan DHS yet, and I'm hopeful that things will get clearer before our FP window opens.

I expect a lot to change around March.

So no use planning for later trips, for now. The big unknowns:
- Will Runaway Train use fastpass? What type of capacity will it have? Will it use boarding groups?
- Will Millenium falcon switch to regular fastpass/standby at some point?
- And the big one, will Rise of the Resistance keep the current system or change?
-What will DHS hours look like in a couple of months?

My best *guesses*:
- Runaway Train will have fastpasses, probably shortly before or after it opens.
-Millenium falcon might have fastpasses in a few months
-The entire tier system will change after the additional of Runaway Train, and especially if Millenium falcon is added. For example, I could easily see Alien Saucers and Tower of Terror dropping to tier 2.
-RoTR will stick with boarding passes for a LONG time. Possibly years.
-You will see lots of 8am opening, at least at busier times of the year. Probably not as many 7am openings moving forward but not impossible.

But point is... Don't stress until your FP window opens. If you're going in 4-8 months, things may be very very different than they are now.

I'd say I'm mildly stressed - we are huge Star Wars fans but don't love crowds or ultra early mornings, have only one day for HS and have no plans for another Disney trip in the next decade.

But, I feel like it's doable based on intense reading here for the past week. We can drag ourselves to the bus stop by 6 for one day, cross fingers for a good BG experience and knock out TSL while we wait our turn. I think we'll avoid Galaxy's Edge until late morning in hopes of avoiding wall to wall people as our first impression (good luck there, right?). Hopefully by noon or so we can go back to the resort and decompress for a few hours, then head back for the evening.

Bright sides for us - we don't care about RnRC or ToT, and we won't be heartbroken if we miss the new MM railway ride (though we'll squeeze it in if there is a way to do so that isn't too painful).

I am not stressing.... however, I am definitely giving this park more time and thought than it deserves! I am planning HS the first full day there.... just to make sure that if I don't get a boarding group, I can try another one of the days that I'm there.
I am ok with the way they are running the Star Wars stuff with no FP+.... but.... it's having everything else in a tier 1 that stinks!!!
So rope drop will be a nightmare..... at least not what I am looking forward to... but necessary due to the RotR Boarding Group thing.
But I plan to just bring my patience with me and see what happens.

We watched a couple of Youtubes from the past week of people getting there and getting their boarding groups and I was so stressed just watching it. We go in March and I have no idea how to plan. What if I'm just sitting down at Brown Derby when my boarding group is called? What if go through all that and only get a backup group? Will they even be doing boarding groups in March?

You have 2hr so you should be good.

Really if you have an ADR then I would worry about it even less. The chance you do sit down the moment your boarding group is called and your meal takes a full 2hr would be low and the chance that the CM would not allow you in would also be unlikely.

I am a little bit stressed just because of all the unknowns. I am far enough out that it is not a big deal yet. At the same time, I would like to go ahead and make at least a tentative plan, but cannot because who knows what is going to happen in the next few months. We only get one day at HS and rope dropping is not really an option for us, so unless something changes, we will not be riding RotR. But that is just the thing: something is going to change, I just don't know what. I agree that stressed is maybe not the right word. Frustrated? Impatient?

Under the current tiering, If you book all your scheduled FPs in the morning, You will have zero trouble getting a day of FP for RNR or TOT no matter how big your group is. If you go on a day that isn’t crazy, the same applies for TSM and AS2.

I promise.

Is AS2 Alien Swirling Saucers? Why the "2"? oh wait now I see why LOL

Also - assuming you left off Slinky Dog because day of won't really be available?

Slinky is not impossible to FP as long as it’s not the first few days of your visit. How long is your trip? There was tons of availability for our party of 8 people at 60+4 and 60+5. There was some later in the day availability at 60+3.

Also, since so many rides are Tier 1 and everyone can only book one in advance, there are more same day FP available for things in tier 1 like ToT and RnRC. This has proven to be true by many.

Also, some people join a boarding group and if it’s a higher number, they go to another park in the meantime. Some people get their BG then leave for their hotel or another park and come back later.

Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway won’t be open when we go. Sure, that is another unknown, but I still wouldn’t be stressed. It’s an exciting time for HS with so much new stuff. Sure, you will probably have to wait for some things. There’s a lot of new stuff. It all seems very doable for us, and after ready many other people’s accounts I’m not really concerned.

I actually like how they’ve stacked so many rides in tier 1 to have a better shot of getting a good same day FP.

I finally got my gf to join me for a trip this coming December (I like the Christmas season, what can I say?). Totally forgot about both Mickey's Runaway Railway at DHS and Ratatouille at EPCOT. I've already learned not to let a trip hinge on attractions, particularly big new shiny ones. I'm also not going to worry about boarding passes and whatnot since we don't know how long those will last (plus she's not a morning person).

I’m a little stressed whether we do three days at HS or 2 @ each Epcot and HS
We have until June tho

We don't arrive until AFTER Thanksgiving this year so I am not letting all of the changes at DHS bother me for now as I know things will settle out over the next 8 months or so before we have to seriously start thinking of how we will plan our FPs. For ROTR I'm not sure if BGs will still be a thing then, but if they are still a thing come Sept then I'll look to plan for it. Already plan to RD the park anyway and since we'll hit that park at least two full days during our stay we should be able to get to ride everything we want with the standard RD the rides you don't have FPs for to maximize our time. Time will tell what it looks like in 10½ months from now.

I'm totally stressed about our March 4 day in HS-first day of MMRR with no idea of what will happen. I'm not nearly as stressed about our June 21 HS day, even though it is Father's Day. Currently WDW Website shows morning EMH scheduled for HS, so they should have the boarding pass thing worked out by then if those stay in place. At least I should know more about how to plan-

Our trip is in June. I’m just trying to stay flexible. We went last spring break as a family and deliberately rode “every” ride during an 8 day trip. This time it’s just me, DH and my 18 y/o daughter. We did get hoppers and we are planning HS for the first 2 days of our trip because that’s what my daughter wants the most and if we have to hop back during the rest of the week to catch the other rides we like, we will. But this trip we already know we aren’t going to try to hit everything. That was why we strategized it on the last trip. We’ll skip a lot of smaller kid rides and shows that we see every time. And there’s a good chance they will change things with Fastpasses before June. I would almost think they’d have to with all the new rides.

Fortunately for us we saw GE last summer at DLAND CA, so we're less worried about "experiencing" GE at least. TOT is a big for my SO because we don't have it out on the west coast anymore and it was his favorite. It just feels like a lot

At the bare minimum we know they're gonna have a new plan for MMRR. Its the first Mickey ride ever, at least stateside. They can't just be like "here you all go, standby line only, woohoo!". Cars Land showed they will likely NEVER do something like that again.

HS used to be a 1/2 day park for us. Now it will be 2 days. A lot can and will change between now and when my 60 day window opens up in May, so I'm just going to gather as much info as I can and come up with various approaches to planning the park and enjoy the ride!

I'm just not even trying to plan anything at the moment. We're going in June, and MMRR should be open by the time we have to book our FPs, so hoping we will know more by then. And if they change it again after then, disboards will let me know, and we'll adjust.
