the number of bills that are coming in this month? DH and i did a really good job of controlling our Christmas spending (only charging our gifts to each other which we have the money for), but now the usual january bills are coming in along with the bi-annual and annual bills (car insurance, life insurance, etc.) and it's made me very anxious! all of our bills came at one time-TODAY! i guess i'm anxious because we went from owing no one to owing everyone in the time it took me to open the mailbox, lol. don't ya hate it when that happens? :headache:

Yes, I feel the pain too. :headache: Especially in the Gas/Electric bill. Twice what it normally is this month. :scared1: What??? Goes to show you that even with a programmable thermostat and conserving on Christmas lights, that the bill will be high anyway.

My electric bill was 700 due to 2 emergency service visits last month :scared1:

And that was on top of the 600 bucks for the electrician.

So, uh yeah...bills=scary

Its my businesses slow time of year too.

I hate money.

oh my! :scared1:  to you! gotta love how everything piles on all at once!

Luckily my after Christmas months are better than the before months.. I dont charge Christmas so I dont see any of those types of bills.. my electric bill is generally quite a bit lower.. my gas bill is usually just a little higher but since the electric is lower that offsets it and usually its better when adding them together afterwards than before..

I hate January. I have to renew the registration on my car, renew my driver's license (this year) and get my car inspected. That gets VERY pricey. :( Not to mention my daughter's birthday is this month as well.

Our Jan bills aren't any more then expected. If I were you though I would have my insurance bills moved to a different month so you don't have to worry about it so much.

Not worried about the regular bills. Income tax...that's a whole 'nother story.:scared1:

In just about two months time (mid-November to mid-January) we have the following due: both DH and my life insurance, our property taxes, our umbrella liability insurance, our homeowners insurance, and our car insurance. Obviously, this is on top of the "regular" bills. It seems like all we do is PAY, PAY, PAY at this time of year, and that the money just hemorrages out of the check book.

(We do, however, save the appropriate amount each month to pay all the above, but man, the money leaving the house in those 2 months just boggles my mind.)

It seems like everything is due all at once now too. Plus, all of our bills are a lot more than usual. :confused3

And, our wonderful little town was gracious (or greedy!) enough to "sell" our neighborhood to another water company & we just received our first new water bill -- it's 3 times the usual even though we used less than we usually do. Our association said this would happen, but we didn't expect this much of an increase.

When I first saw the bill, I thought, did someone fill up a pool using our water???? :confused3 It's rediculous!

January is an expensive month for us too. We have DVC dues, car insurance, Education IRA for DD (I do the entire 2K in Jan.), and our regular bills too. Thankfully we didn't run up big holiday bills at least.

April will be my scary month.
Not only will I have to pay the balance for my appartment (160+ K), furniture needs to be bought, paint, golf membership needs to be renewed, ... and I am sure many other bills will follow.
Good thing that our vacation money will be paid in May!

I am glad that for many other things, I chose for a monthly payment insteda of a yearly payment. 30 EUR every month isn't as bad as 360 EUR at one point in the year...

Not worried about this month. Our :scared1: month is late September. That is when all of our annual insurance payments come in and our school taxes are due. That month we are so far in the red!!!!:headache:

I did my Christmas shopping early, so my credit card bills came in November and December, and they are paid. Thank goodness!

I am getting a bit nervous, though about tax time, and the fact that DH's work has been slow this winter.

Many insurance companies will allow you to pay monthly or quarterly instead of annually. It makes it all go down much easier!

The bills are all normal, for january. Which includes the holiday spending.

But we just got a letter that says we did not file our 2003 taxes. They were submitted online through turbotax. We have our papers and a refund. But how do we prove we submitted it???

This is why I have monthly payments for as much as I can. Our car and life insurance is billed monthly rather than bi-yearly, and our property taxes and home owners are escrowed by the bank, so that's part of our monthly mortgage payment. It's a rare month that we have a huge bill for anything, usually it's for something unexpected, like a car repair.

The mailbox is my enemy. I just know when I open my mailbox there will be a bill or ten in there. I want to get out of debt and move to Florida.

Let's see...

Car Insurance
Homeowner's Insurance (went up 110%!)
Property Taxes
DVC Dues
Car Tags for 2 cars
Termite Bond
HOA Dues

Thank God we prepare for Jan all year!!
