Is anyone else experiencing problems at the Beach Club Villas?

This is the second time I have stayed at the Beach Club Villas, and this is the second time I have encountered problem their.

The first time I stayed at the Villas they had just opened and due to construction problem our shower didn't work and there was a leak in our room.

The second trip that I stay there, our room smelled of throw up, there was no water pressure, the drain was clogged, the fan was broken, there was no blanket for the fold out bed, and the toilet paper roller was gone.

Both times guest services was excellent, but the resort needs to clean up it act fast before I ever stay there again.

I just must have really bad luck their. Going to stay at Fort Wilderness Villas for a while and not go back there. (for now they seem to be my favorite)

I guess then that we must be really lucky. We were there in July and had absolutely no problems. I was a bit nervous having read of many horror stories at BCV but I am so glad that we didn't change our plans. We loved it and wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

We were there in June in a 2 BR, the master bedroom door didn't lock going into the living room. I probably should have called on it but I wanted to have a vacation, not deal with maintenance.

I have been there 3 times and have had no major problems. Little things like a broom missing or light bulbs burned out. But a call to housekeeping and maintenance took care of those things quickly. I certainly wouldn't consider those problems.

I love the resort and have 2 more trips already confirmed and several more planned.

Since BCV opened I have stayed there twice, once in a third floor studio, and then on the fifth floor 2 br.

First stay was shortly after opening , everything was crisp, clean, new and wonderful.

Second stay, last feb. everything was ok, but not clean enough for my liking, so i had to mop the floors in br, clean out shower, and jacuzzi and toiloit before I was comfortable. Iknow you are not supposed to do this on vacation, but I just stayed at AKL where the bathroom was sparkeling clean.

I think the whole problem with the beach club villas is their housekeeping staff. I think many of the staff there feel they do not have to work as hard because we are supposed to do our own cleaning. I have had run-ins with some of the housekeepers and their service was extremely poor.

The housekeepers should report immediately when things are missing and broken as well as make the place sparkle.

JMHO

I agree is seems to be a problem with housekeeping (if they where doing there job most of the problem we had would not have been there) I wonder why housekeeping there feels special when at the Villas at Wilderness Lodge and Boardwalk they actual do there job correctly.

We also saw tons of garbage and sheets in the hallway all day and night while we where staying there.

We have stayed at the Beach Club resort several times. This was the first time at the BCV. The service is definately not what it used to be. We stayed in the BCV in February. We complained about missing kitchen utensils and dishes but they didn't do anything about it. The room was semi-clean. Could have been cleaner. Our main complaint was with the service. Valet people were extremely rude. We checked in very late (1am) with three very sleepy kids and no one helped with our bags at the car or after we checked in to help get everything to the room. When we were checking out, they yelled at us to get out of the way because the busses with the Disney Cruise guests on it were coming in. Seems that the cruise guests get better treatment then the guests already checked in to the resort.
DVC sent a survey when we got home and I was very blunt when filling it out. Someone from the executive offices called a month or two later and asked about the problems. She was very interested in hearing what the problems were. I told her we were returning in August and she told me to contact the Beach Club executive offices with any special requests and they would try to make our stay better then the last. I haven't contacted them yet but will next week. Hopefully things will be better on our next trip.

nrose101,
What did they do to fix the problems?

-DC :)

see ya there Hobie!! we will be there the 24th and 25th. I hope this time they will have everything cleaner then the last. I replied to a survey also and mentioned my concerns with housekeeping.

They never did anything while we were there to fix the problem. They never replaced the kitchen items that were missing. (we went to the store and picked up plastic/paper goods.) I did send an email when we got back (about the same time I received the survey). They did call to get more detail from me and they did tell me how to get in touch with the executive offices with any requests I have for our next stay. I guess we will see what happens when we go back. I can't think of much to ask for prior to going. I guess if I have problems when I get there I now have a way to get in touch with the higher ups to complain instead of the front desk.

They fixed the spool missing in the bathroom and the missing blanket, apologized aver and over, and gave us a free character breakfast for our trip. Even though I have had problems with the rooms, the cast members have always been extremley helpful and nice at the BCV.

I just returned from my first visit "home" as a DVC member to the BCV in a ded. 2BR (#452) and was not at all happy. I was hesitant to post because so many on this board seem to love the BCV but I was unimpressed with the service we received. I will try to summarize it here and I have written a letter to DVC upon my return home:
Checked in at 12:30PM on a Saturday - no welcome homes, the desk clerk rushed thru my check in, and handed me my keys telling me to call later for the room location. All around me people were getting into their 2BR's but I ended up waiting for almost 3 hours. My son was ill and we were hanging around the lobby waiting, but they told me I couldn't get into anything but the dedicated 2BR because "contractually" I was obligated to this configuration. Whatever. They had a "smoking optional" room available and I asked to inspect it. The desk clerk who accompanied us there walked there and back wordlessly, it was wierd, no chit chat, no "how're you doing". We ended up taking it, no bad smell. To summarize the rest of my experience: the dining room table was all scratched up, there was food and a camcorder battery under the bedskirt in the 2nd BR; the GFI outlet in the master BR kept popping when we adjusted the ceiling fan, knocking out the electricity to the clock (!); on T & T day, we got new towels but the dirty ones were left in the tub; there was a burnt out bulb in the Master bath; one of the jets was not working in the jacuzzi, the shower stall was not clean - mold and mildew! Atlantic Wear (gift shop) issues: faxed in an order for groceries ahead of time and they were not delivered until after 5, half the order was omitted; we asked for 6pack of Coke cans and they substituted 3 20oz. Diet Cokes - they don't answer the phone down there for long periods of time. The front desk said "they must be too busy". Picking up packages sent back from the parks is a nightmare. They have to go searching thru this log, they tell you they don't have your package and then you return to your room and there is a msg your package is waiting. The front desk is full of newbies who have no idea what to do or say. I called down one night because my kids didn't believe SAB was closed. I was told all pools are open 24 hrs with out lifeguard. I asked "even SAB?", she said "hold on" and came back some time later and said "all pools close at 10PM" As many of you know, this is not the case. We were awakened the morning after E-ride night by housekeeping to do T&T (which had been done the previous day) and when I got to the door , she said "never mind" and left. We encountered two staffmembers who could not direct us to the walkway to EPCOT and one who said there was no walkway to MGM. I have been to Disney and stayed on site many times before and know that the magic was missing at this property, big time. I did call down about the electricity issue and it was fixed one day while we were out at the parks, but I do not like to spend much of my vacation, complaining and chasing down customer service. We will try another DVC when we get around to returning, if we don't sell. Disney is slipping, sorry guys.

Try Villas at Fort Wilderness Lodge chewymom, they have always been excellent! The only thing I miss is the walkway to epcot.

I'm so sorry to hear that there have been more problems at BCV. Wow, chewymom, you had an especially tough time of it. I'm very glad you wrote a letter to relay your experiences. Hopefully "the powers that be" will sit up and take notice and change what needs to be changed.

I feel fortunate because my 2 stays at BCV so far have been terrific. The only minor situation that came up was when I found that we had been assigned to a handicapped room. The front desk was easily able to change us to another room when I asked nicely, although we would have happily stayed there if they had been unable to do so. Not a big deal; we were just hoping to have a tub. :p

I plan to spend MANY more vacations at BCV in the future, so hopefully they will get the housekeeping/maintenance issues solved right away. :D

Yikes! And I've not had any problems at BCV-now I'm worried. And yet I know VWL can have problems too-I've encountered rude CMs, incompetence, told one thing then the opposite by the same person. Unfortunately, my experiences at VWL say it has the worst customer service. Yet others have had absolutely wonderful experiences there. I guess no place is immune from bad service occassionally (hopefully just occassionally!)

We were at BCV in December in a Studio and received the EPCOT view we requested. We had no problems with ants, room temperature, water pressure in the shower. Everything was GREAT, especially the view of IllumiNations that we had from our balcony. In addition, the stairs to the parking lot made our car access almost as good as at OKW, our home resort. We will definitely stay at BCV again!

We stayed at BCV last Dec. Room was ready at 10:30 am, room was great, service at check in was great. CM asked if I was a DVC member and said welcome home just like everywhere. Valet service was great.

I think, after reading threads like this over the past few months, it's evident to me that less-than-magical experiences have been had at all the DVC resorts. We had our bad one at OKW in May. Others have told of BWV and VWL.

Sorry that the OP has had a couple of bad experiences. I'm going back in Oct and will be interested to see if my stay is on the good or bad side of this BCV continuing saga.
