A Dirndl is the traditional Bavarian dress (what Americans always think of when they think of Germany), this is a photo off the internet (not me) but it is the same dirndl that I have (very summery):

It is always so nice to have the photos to remember all the fun


We're funny--even with two kids we have only bought up to three photos on one cruise. Often we don't end up with any worth buying (which is partly due to not have loads taken I am sure). We always end up with better shots on our camera than what DCL gets.

Lovely dress I like the colour.

Saw your post on the thread about pictures, I would be willing to share a 10 credit package with you (or anyone else that is interested), I think you would just have to be there with me to pick up the pictures but I am sure we could arrange a time to do that.

I think the lifestyle pictures are the 8x 10 so 2 credits per picture. If you wanted to go 6/4 or some other combination just send me a PM.

You are right about it being an outsourced company but we sailed on the Magic in May and the photographers were very good in our experience. Sorry that was not your experience, on your Panama Cruise. The photo service was another issue, with much angst on the last day that many hadn't received all their photos - ourselves included - but it was eventually resolved, but the photos themselves were fantastic. Yes it's expensive - much more than at the theme parks, but the cost of having photographers on the cruise for the outsourced company must, I suppose, be large and needs to be covered in the cost. Whilst expensive, it's still, in my experience, less expensive than going to a photographer for a session at home would be. Of course YMMV.

I agree, I thought every single one was really great and we had real trouble deciding what to leave behind. A lot were took by the same person, a blond english lady, and all of hers were the best. I just hope that she might still be on the magic.

Well my FE has gone from cabin to cabin with each child now a seperate gift as found it difficult as some have upto 4 kids,many ranging in age etc and I felt guilty and thought could cause kids problems/arguments,so blow and behold,tried to cover each child seperately age/sex etc with their own bought small gift + Tiffs FE project gift (pirate med shell rings that she collected herself from beach over 3 months ( can wear if finger small) or can be put on necklace/bracelet (something she did alone as remember only age 6 and her idea was cool for pirate night and a little piece of med)

Been busy having formal dresses fitted by tailor,pirate costumes all ready! Only live once!so trying to have fun/elegance etc all in one trip!

Thats really great, I hope Tiff enjoyed making them, its little things like this that help make the trip extra special.

Joy, I did the same thing for my bag. I bought a Lowepro Passport sling bag that will double as my purse. It doesn't scream "camera bag" (at least I don't think so!). I read a trip report where someone rented a lens for the trip. I believe it was an 18 - 200mm??? That would be amazing but I'm not sure if one is available for Canon SLR's.

Thats a good idea about renting a lens, I might look into it. Still may be expensive though and worry if it would be covered by trip insurance should anything happen. Really do need a better one though.


Does anyone have any idea what films they may be showing for adults, if any?
We've been saving Cars 2 and Pirates 4 to watch on the ship but I wondered if there would be anything new out thats more for adults than family.

I'll ask David about it and get back to you. we used to always get fabulous pictures of the kids done at Target of all places, but I don't have that option anymore and was thinking it would be nice to get photos of them on the cruise. I had just about talked myself into getting lots of photos done and buying the CD just the one time (especially since we have grandparents sailing with us) and then I realized the VAT tax would be added to it and that just makes it too spendy for me to justify

Okay, this post has absolutely nothing to do with the cruise, but had to share my happiness and relief with all of you

On Sunday I put Rio on a plane to London (all by his little 12 year old self) to fly off to summer camp. He is staying one week with a local host family and attending a performing arts camp in Essex.

I just spoke to him on the phone and he is so happy. The other boy at the camp (his host brother) is the first boy he has ever met who loves to dance and act the way he does, he is already begging to go back every year.

It is such a relief to me to know he is happy So I just had to share

Got cruise docs today!how cute, little booklet!
just got to pack and depart!
Husband needs the break,stress increasing Greece continuously as you all probably know from news!(husband tourism hotel manager is being knocked in all directions by crisis/strikes etc,so he needs time to just get away,although he will still be working on ship resolving problems via tel)

lets hope Italy and Spain economy crisis and bailout holds out till after cruise!?

3 weeks,cannot wait to just relax and have family quality time!

Why do't you just send a nice reply to the email she sent out letting her know what happened and I am sure she will get it taken care of soon? I am just thrilled that she is willing to put the time in to get things all organized for us

You have clearly done a great job helping him to develop independence and confidence. Gold parenting star for you! By the way Josh and Campbell are both in the school dance group and love to perform. It will be nice for them to have something in common with Rio.

Diane please remember that Dizmom is doing the FE list as a favour to us all, she doesn't have to do it, being rude is not going to help. Everything will be correct before the cruise comes around there is no need to worry we have plenty of time.

Apologies to disneymom if my message seems offensive but not my intention!
I have sent messages and asked all of you whom may be wrong on 1st list to pm me in order for disneymom to not have to as I am sure she has lots else to get ready now!
I am also aware that some are leaving soon,as travelling Europe and I have followed the list given to ensure I do not miss the kids on it and if I need to make changes, I need to drive to town again (1 hr drive) which is getting difficult to do due to taxi strike blocking road.

talking of which!TAXI
anyone visiting Greece,arrange private transport (taxi strikes ongoing and other strikes awaiting banks/everyone/transport etc)
Cyprus Taxi are transporting some tourists only to certain destinations.

I am hoping that our airport will not be blocked and that the planes have fuel,either way,noone is going to stop me getting to and on the 2 planes!!!!!!!!!

I can tell you that Jen got all of our information correct. it is ADvid and I and the two kids (Marika is 14 and Rio is 12). Our FE will hang outside either door 2109 or 2107. We will not know which of those two until we are onboard, so you'll just have to look at them both (sorry--it has to do with which way the beds and sofa are turned, which is flipped in every other stateroom; David gets queasy if he sits facing "backwards" on the sofa, so we will choose which room is OURS by which one has the forward facing sofa. The FE will go on the other door, grandparent's room, to give a perk to teh kid who ends up staying over there, contrary to expectations they are both fighting over wanting to be the one in our room ).

yes nightmare taxi!
cruise ships have pulled out of greece and have diverted to cyprus! So now they are trying to block airports and fuel trucks for disruption.

There are some places where taxi have opposed this violent action and are still transporting tourists to certain safe places for free/without charge! eg cyprus cruise ships/port

This euro isa never ending problem and now Spain & Italy facing exact same problems??????????
The problem is that before the euro,Greece had prosperity but now poverty!
What you all do not realize is that citizens are working but many owed from 6-36 months backpay and cannot survive unless the government does something to make employers pay or offer assistance to families!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! my husband included!

There is nothing they can do but strike/hope!

As stated previously,as long as Italy & Spain remain calm,all hol ok!
If flips???????????????On Euro news,things are heating up with the citizens of these countries!

I'm not 100% sure we're "officially" on the FE list, and don't think I posted a cabin # anywhere, either.
