Hi, we are going to attempt to do Cinque Terre on our own. Apparently, there is a ticket that covers all transportation including some ferries. We plan to just do Cinque Terre since we want to take our time in each town.

We are also planning to Cinque Terre on our own! Rick Steves has great info on this in his Italy Travel Guide and he has a DVD on it too. It looks very easy to do and great hiking with great views! According to Rick Steves, you take a train (20 minute walk to train station from boat) from La Spezia to Cinque Terre and then from there you can buy a ticket that is good for both the train and boat in between the 5 towns. Rick recommends hiking the trail between the towns or taking the boat for the best views. Seems like the train may go in a tunnels between the towns (?). He calls Cinque Terre the Italian Riveria.

Does anyone want to do a wine meet up on Sea Day for about an hr? You bring a bottle of wine from your area and then you get to taste other people's wine on board that they bring. Let me know if you are interested. Depending on how many people would be interested we could get a space on board such as one of the route 66 lounges or we could meet at someone's room.

We will bring a bottle of wine but, like Hadley I want to see what is on during the day. I want to make sure that we have time for family activities on the boat.

ps I am all for the wine thing (perhaps straight after party pirates)more fun to see who dressed up etc,However,area where kids allowed please,also, will they charge us a corking fee or allow us to bring our wine bottles already corked???????????????

A wine tasting sounds good, and after pirate night sounds fun too - especially to see who has dressed up. Not sure what we'd do with the kids, but I am open to bringing a bottle of wine. I can bring some new mexico wine.... they have a local Green Chile Wine here, but I am not a fan. I will bring it if you all want to try it. Hmmm.... it's gonna be tough to choose JUST ONE wine to bring lol

Ok If each family wants to bring 1 bottle of wine that wants to participate we can meet up after the pirate party by the kids pool, since most kids will start heading to bed and I doubt they will be heading to the swimming area. Also, before coming try to grab two glasses from your room to use to taste in.

Also the kids will be able to go to ice cream bar while the adults get the wine to enjoy =)

I'll keep it in mind and as long as we would not have to miss a fun thing in Rockin' Bar D after teh party we will show up with some German wine

There are generally different things every night starting around 10:15 to 10:45. The parties are not just music being spun but have hosts and silly contests and sometimes the stage dancer come in for part of them, etc.

In the past they have had things like an 80s night party, 70s night, country, beach, a newlywed type game, etc. We always have a ton of fun at them (and I figure if I dance every night it burns off some of the calories I eat during the dinner in a way that is more fun than hitting the gym).

Wow that sounds like fun! Well I will have to find a way to stay up for these nights! With all day excursions and dinner not till 8:00p then squeezing in a performance before dinner.... I may be done come 10:00p! Well I do have 2 days on the boat to get to it!

did you think it was worth the price? They are getting ready to release new destinations and I am so hoping they have something to go along with the new NYC Canada cruises!
