Is anyone cruising with me on the August 27th 2011 Meditteranean Cruise? Hellooooo?

Looks like this cruise will be the one for us!! I LOVE the fact that it is during Labor Day weekend, so we get an extra day upon our return... maybe, just maybe we might spend the extra day in Barcelona?

Hi there - just joining up as we booked our cruise this morning :banana::banana:

There are eight of us, four adults, four kids 5, 14, 14, 14 and I can't wait! This is our second DCL cruise but the first was for just 3 days. Lets hope that some more people join us soon :goodvibes:goodvibes

Welcome aboard!! It will be me, DH, DS, DD, MIL & FIL. Can't wait to get to know you... this thread is a little slow right now, but hopefully it will pick up soon.:goodvibes

Hey everybody, just checking in....we'll be at the 1 year mark before ya know it :cool1:

Well I have decided I am going to be a mean mom and leave the girls at the beach with their dad and come to Europe.

I was actually hoping to do the Liberty of the Seas as that would be an easier sell to the kids but this cruise is less expensive, so DCL it is:lovestruc

Hi everyone, I certainly have my eye on this cruise, I'm not sure if the slow response is to do with the larger deposit required. When I cruised earlier this year my budget was tight so I made a dummy booking on the western with the intention of moving to this cruise later on. I think that there will be quite a few more british people end up on this cruise as the timing now works well with the end of the english school summer holidays. I know that the 2010 aug 28th (10/11 night?) cruise, especially with its offers was interesting to many but impossible because it came back 2 days into the start of the school year and it is practically illegal to take british school kids out in september (you get fined and reported to social services). So many might take up the 2011 one, anyway I hope to be joining you, with DH and DD12. If my new job comes through I will be booking in the next couple of weeks. Hope to see you all next aug.

Pretty soon we will be able to book airfare, once I do that it seems real:cool1:. Hoping to use AirMiles to book a flight but we did direct flights this summer and that was so nice may save the points for another trip and just pay for this flight.

Well we are now officially booked on this cruise. Can't wait, lots of planning to be done and only 10 days to wait until I can book our flights. Thinking of booking W Barcelona hotel, anyone heard anything good/bad about it?

:goodvibes
Hey guys. We're on this cruise now. We are from England and there is DH, DW, DS7, DD5 and DS2 and we can't wait.

Looking forward to getting to know you.

Glad to see some more people are going to be on this cruise.
:thumbsup2

For those from England you are so lucky you do not have to travel that far. I plan on taking a red eye flight on Thursday and having Friday and Saturday AM to see some sights in Barcelona, and then leaving on the Sunday so I will have another day In Barcelona.

We tend to travel across the atlantic at least once a year for the US or Caribbean so I know what you mean about being lucky this time.

DCL coming nearer to home was an opportunity not to missed, we couldn't afford the Baltic cruise this year but I think the late august med cruise is very good value. Also I was wondering if 2012 might see some different med ports so I wanted to get this one in first.

Although we haven't far to go we will still fly in on the wednesday before because i'm not risking missing this due to delays, strikes, volcanoes, etc, etc, and my husband has never been to barcelona before so there are a few essential places (mainly Nou Camp stadium) that he wants to visit.

Is it too early to start talking about a gift exchange?

I haven't done this before but would be interested. Is there anyone on here who has done it before and knows the etiquette?

That will be great getting to spend a couple of days in Barcelona precruise, one of the main reasons I want to do this crusie is I did not get to spend enough time in Barcelona in August and it looks like a great city.

If I can work it out with FF flights I may stop in Paris and do a day at Disnland Europe and then spend Friday in Barcelona.:cloud9:

FE exchanges are easy to organize if you keep them simple and and kids love them, but I am travelling carry on only so I will be passing on this cruise.

Lisa ~ Boy do I know what you mean on the airfare! It's gonna cost more than the cruise for our family of 4. But... it will be worth it, so I try not to think of the actual cost of the airfare until I have to.

BTW, has anyone looked into flights from the US? Can we see yet how much the flights are gonna be? I've been trying to look for a few months now, but flights don't go out that far in advance yet, bummer.

I am up for the fish extender... we need to get the original post revised to list who is going to be on this cruise and with details like fish extender, bracelets, etc.

I've been watching the Travel Channels Samantha Brown. She's been visiting Europe and it is makeing me so excited and can not wait!!!:woohoo:

some airlines open up 365 days prior I know Delta, Air Canada, British Air I can see fares and Toronto return are in the $1500 return range. I
paid $900 last year so If I see anything around $1200 I
will book.

Hi all! I just booked my very first Disney cruise a week ago using my DVC points and have been lurking on the cruise board since then! So happy I found this thread. I have never cruised before, but I am going on a cruise with my my mom to the Bahamas in March. (not with Disney) I hope I love cruising :) My Disney cruise will be me and my boyfriend and I am sooo excited. Neither of us have been to Europe before and we are very much looking forward to seeing some more of the world. There is so much time until the trip but I don't want to wait till the last minute to plan things as I know I will get overwhelmed. I'm thinking about spending a few days in Paris and Disneyland Paris first then a few days after the trip in Barcelona. Looking forward to planing our trip together and maybe seeing some of you on the ship!

Now to make a ticker!

Welcome aboard, I think Europe on a cruise is a great introduction, and you will love the Magic.

I suggest cruisecritic.com and the Europe port section to get lots of planning information. I now have a pretty good idea what my must sees are, there is so much to choose from in each port, that is does get overwhelming at times. just remember you cannot see everything.

I plan on using Airmiles to book my flights and they have finally added the option to bok flights online.:cool1: I was dreading doing it on the phone as last time I tried to use points it was an hour wait to talk to and agent and to get to London it was 3 flights. I was playing around with July dates and there were lots of options so I am hopeful I will get decent flights. Oct 14 will be when I can book the dates I want. Once flights are booked the trip seems real.

Looking into going to Disneyland Paris, has anyone been and have suggestions for off property hotel for 1 night, I know nothing about Disnyland Paris?

Flights booked, was able to get direct flight to Paris so will spend a day at Disneyland Paris and a 1/2 day in Barcelona precruise.

Great news that you have your flights booked, I've seen the ones I want but aren't in a position to book yet, not too worried as we could always drive down if the flights suddenly sold out.

I went to Disneyland Paris for the first time this summer, we only had one day and it was extremely busy, busier than any days we've had at WDW so you will need a very early start.

There is very nice Marriott vacation club hotel (Marriott village d'lle de france) just down the road I haven't stayed there but plan to next time we go. It is made up of town houses with mulitple bedrooms so if you have a large family it would be ideal.

Just been looking on the DCL website and the cost listed for our cruise has gone up considerably (not for me but for new bookers). Think this might be because they haven't yet announced med cruises for 2012 so people are tired of waiting and have booked for 2011. But our cat 6a for 3 people has gone up over $1100 to what I've paid. Glad I booked when I did.
