Is anyone actually accessing their room earlier than check in time anymore?

Years ago it didn't matter what time I arrived my room was always ready.
Got there at 9am on more than one occasion and after checking in at the desk I was given a room immediately at value, moderate, and deluxe resorts.

Seems like ever since you could request early room access as a priority I have not been able to access my room until official check in or even 2+ hours after that.

Once I arrived at 10pm and had not gotten a room number yet so I went to the check in desk and they said they had to go looking for a cleaned room for me as the one I was going to be assigned never got cleaned that day.

I'll be arriving in the morning on my next trip and checked off the early room access as a priority with no room requests and I'm wondering if its likely that I'll be able to access my room.

Any experiences with this lately?

We go to Disney once a year in the fall and yes, we have noticed this! A few times, we had to wait several hours after check in time for a room! If you made a request for a certain location, you may have to wait longer. We do online check in but if the room is not ready we go to the front desk. They can usually get us a room sooner if we forget about a specific area or floor.

I was at WDW recently and stayed at 3 different resorts (DVC and non DVC).

Coronado was ready at 8:30 am
Saratoga was ready at around 3 pm
BLT was ready at 12:30 pm

Coronado and Saratoga both had room requests for near the bus stop and both were not granted. At Saratoga specifically my room was the furthest away from the bus stop. BLT had a request for a room on a higher floor which was granted.

We usually don't put any room requests and we have tried to go to check in and they have not been able to get us a room sooner.

Heck last time we didn't bother going to ask and at 5pm we got the text. Make our way to the room and its the wrong room category and only had a king bed instead of 2 queens and it took them a while to get us into the correct room type with no apologies for the time wasted.

I arrived at PO French Quarter this morning. I did online check in and requested 1st floor and checked I was arriving before 3pm. My flight landed at 9:30am and I got the text that my room was ready. They put me on the third floor. I stopped into the lobby and they were able to put me in a first floor room immediately. Cooling off in the room right now

Could you give some specifics? Which resort were you checking into when this happened?

Check into the Yacht Club last Tuesday. We arrived around Noon. The room was not ready. Spent the afternoon at Epcot and at 4:00 PM had not received a text regarding the room being ready. This was a day when the temperature was around 98! Walked to the resort and a room still wasn't ready. The CM called someone on the phone and after a long wait, she was told that our room would be ready in 30 minutes. At 5:00 PM, still had not received a text. Went back to the front desk and the same CM called again and after another lengthy wait, we finally received our room number.

Switched to the Contemporary for the last two days. Checked in around 11:00 am and did not expect for the room to be ready. However, was informed that we had received a magical upgrade and we would be on the club level on the 12th floor! We were escorted up the lounge and the CM there said they were working on getting our room ready. We rode around the monorail circuit to burn some time and received a text in about one hour that our room was ready.

It's varied a lot for us over the past few 2-3 years, and we always do a physical check-in around the time we arrive, which is usually close to 7:30 in the morning. The worst was CBR in 2022, room wasn't ready until 5 or 6. Riviera was ready for us closer to 1-2 PM last year. This year, our room at the Poly (DVC side) was ready at 10:30 AM.

We have been arriving mid-afternoon for most of our trips, so the room has been available when we arrive -3:30-ish? - or shortly thereafter. On our upcoming September trip we are arriving at around 10 a.m. We don’t have any expectations our room will be available, but will be thrilled if it is. :D We plan to have brunch at Olivia’s when we arrive. Afterwards, we’ll hang at the pool if the room isn’t available. Either way, it’s all good. I can’t remember ever getting into a room especially early except once at OKW - our GV was available at 9:00 a.m. on one trip, which was a treat. But that was a few years back.

We typically do a red eye and arrive at our resort between 8:30 and 9:00 am. We generally stop by the front desk and ask nicely if there’s anything ready. At YC we were in our room by noon and OKW we wer in by 10:00. This was last fall at OKW, and the spring the previous year for YC. Only once, back in 2017 at CSR was our room not ready when we were checking in at 6pm-went to DS and when we returned at 9pm, our room still wasn’t ready. Asked to speak to a manager about why there was no room ready hours after official check-in and even after we stopped. Y at 6pm. We were then given a room immediately (granted, it was in the back 40 of the ranchos section but we didn’t care. Just wanted to get to bed)!

We didn’t have any room request at French Quarter over Spring Break and our room was ready at 1230. At end of April we were at AKL for a partial Savannah view and it was ready at 130

Our last 2 stays at CBR, our room was ready when we arrived around 11:30 AM. Our last stay at BWI, our room was ready by 1:00.

Had a interesting check in last Thursday. We pulled in with a Lyft and they used my ID to ett us in. The guard asked if we checked in already and I told him i did online check in months ago but no room yet. So we pull up and the greeter knows my name and asks if we know where to go. Im like... No we didnt get a room yet and hes like "yes you did" legit when we road up they did something and approved the room and bam good to go at 10am.

We were checking in to All-Star Movies on the Sunday after Thanksgiving in 2023 and our room as ready around noon. We had no room request in at All-Star Movies.

The next day (Monday), we were moving to Port Orleans Riverside and that room was ready around 9 a.m. I think our only room request that time was a room in the Alligator Bayou section.

When we came off th DCL transfers to WL, the room wasn't ready but after I went to the desk, they found a different one that was ready, it just didn't match whatever room I had requested with the TP room requests. At that point in time, I didn't care.

Earlier this month we had a split stay at Contemporary/Beach Club. Our Contemp room was ready at 12:53pm after we arrived early and asked at the check in desk. The CM was able to move us to a room that was already ready.

A few days later we moved to Beach Club and got the notification that our room was ready as soon as we were parking the car at 1:50pm.

We were at Yacht Club in April. We had an early flight and even though we had done online check-in, we went to the front desk to reiterate our request for connecting rooms. We said we didn’t care about anything else except for that. This was probably at 10:30. By 1130. I had notification that my room was ready and my daughters was ready less than an hour later.

I doubt that putting in a room request has any impact on when the room will be ready. Housekeeping does their work in the morning to makeup rooms for new guests. I would assume at busier times of the year when the resort is fully occupied, there are fewer empty rooms and it takes the cleaning crew longer to complete all of their work. If the resort isn't very busy, perhaps they were able to assign you a room that was unoccupied. That would explain why sometimes your room is ready early in the day while other times it is not.
