......for fear of commiting to the wrong one? What if you buy a package, and all of a sudden, Disney offers free dining.....or park hopper and more for no extra charge? Could you change, or are you out of luck, and stuck paying the higher prices?

I too am afraid to commit so I booked a room only ressie with an AAA discount. That way I can wait and see what comes out for the end of April/beginning of May. I hate this part of booking our trip though because I find it sooo nerve wracking. Will there be a discount? Will I get it in time? Will it be any good? Did I get the best deal? I love it when all of that is done and I can just relax and start packing!

I had booked a room only reservation in the spring using my AAA card for an August vacation. About a month after I did that, Disney announced the free dinning plan. They let me cancel the room only reservation, and change it to a package, I had to pay the difference for a down payment.

Then my mom offered me some :wizard: and told me she would pay for me to stay at CRB (I was booked at POP). I called again (after you could no longer book the free dinning plan) and had them switch again- they kept me on the free dinning plan

I will tell you to keep track if you change plans- Disney did not cancell my room only reservation and I didn't realize it till I got my package in the mail. They cancelled it and refunded my money no problem

NO~~~~~~~~~~~~ I'm not!!!!! :earboy2: We actually booked a MYW package with hoppers and dining, about 7 months ago........... then I think back in nov. or so, Disney came out with a "new" MYW package, with the free hoppers and a small discount on the room, waterparks, DQ, etc..... so, we just called and had it applied to our package........... it saved us almost $400. There was NO problem at all having it applied, and I was refunded the money immediately.... ( our package was already paid in full). I would have NO problem at all booking a package again, and if some kind of discount came out that could be applied, then that would be great!!! You can always cancel it if you think something better comes along that wouldn't apply...... I think you have till 45 days out to cancel without penalty........... SO, I'd say go ahead with the package........ I guess it just depends on what works for your family.

Have fun planning!!!!

Count me in as one who is reluctant to commit to a package. I know that I can always make changes if anything better comes out but...

I currently have a AAA room-only ressie booked thru DU. I like DU and know that they'll work their hardest to get me the best possible price on my trip. But they can't book a AAA package for me and that's the best package price available right now for my dates. So, I'd have to dump DU in favor of some unknown AAA TA in order to book a package deal. Since the difference between a AAA package and a AAA room-only ressie is the cost of the passes (at Disney's advance purchase rate), there's really no incentive for me to book a package right now.

Of course, if Disney comes out with something like free dining or the 7 for 4 deals of the past, I'll be switching to a package ASAP.

My philosophy on this topic: book now what you can afford now; if new deals/discounts come out you will either a) save money or b) spend your newly found savings by upgrading to a better resort!

If no deals are released, hey, you are spending what you can afford, and you are going to Walt Disney World!!!!!

I agree with this! You can always get out of your booking if you pull out by the correct deadlines. I figure that now we are saving for worst case, and if something better comes along, we will change!
