Is an Owner Locker for me?

I have very specific OTC items I keep in the locker, otherwise we'd be driving to every CVS and Walgreen's trying to find items which are fairly expensive and tossing them. OL lets me store them and saves time. This was our second trip with OL and the contents are evolving and helpful.

We spend a fortune on our trips, so whatever John charges is fine with us. After ADR's nearly daily at $250-400 for four people, AP's, DVC, travel and a rental car who cares? If we want to cut costs, that is where we do it and go eat at Chicken Guy.

Like nearly everything else Disney you can chose value, mod or deluxe. We signed up with the AP discount during covid which I'm sure helped keep OL going while people weren't traveling. If prices go up I'm okay with that as it is worth it to me.

Agree 100%. This is purely a pay-for-convenience product. I guess there are a few specific scenarios where it could save someone money on baggage fees or something but basically it's a cost, just like a hundred other things we pay extra for on vacation because they make things a little easier/nicer.

Worth every penny to us, but I can easily see why it wouldn't be to others.

Hi all! We bought DVC direct earlier this year, and we are taking our welcome home trip in March, 2023. I have a rescheduled gal pal trip (from Hurricane Ian) to Pop in January 2023, and so I am really leaning heavily towards investing in OL starting with my January trip, so that we have everything we need for our March DVC trip. I've read a lot on these threads to get the gist of the OL, and I've visited the OL website too. This looks like something our family could really use as we fly Delta from the midwest, a couple of times a year.

I read that there was a DVC promo for OL back earlier in this thread, but when I visited the OL website, I couldn't find any mention of a DVC promo code. I assume that it is no more, which is fine. However, if there is a DVC promo code still in effect that I could use when I sign up for an OL, I'd love know where it is or how to access it.

Any info about whether such a promo code exists or not would be terrific. Thanks so much everyone!

Hi @Wiltony, thank you! When I clicked on your link, it took me to the home page of the Owners Locker. I just thought I would check to see if I maybe missed something? I didn't see any discounts for DVC owners? No worries if there is no promo, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something. I'm in need of a second cup of coffee this morning! :goodvibes

Looks like it only works on mobile. I'll see if I can find you a desktop link.

I found it in the "membership benefits" section on the DVC website. If you can access that, you should be able to find it.

Yes its under membership benefits... it's on the 6th page... 6 months free and a year of unlimited deliveries is the current promo.

I enjoyed this thread and may get a OL this month. My biggest concern is we always split stay. Usually on "split/transfer" day we make it a park day. We stop by bell services with bags and off to the parks we go. Check in at night is never ideal of course but we just deal with it. Currently bags roll well to bell services but a OL would be difficult. Could we drop off the night before perhaps to prep or is there something that you all would recommend? I don't remember seeing easily available luggage carts during my stays.

Bell Services has carts, we always call for bell services and they take our OL and deliver it at the second resort with our other luggage. Costs a bit of money for tips but well worth it to us to not have to schlep a bunch of stuff around a big resort.

Not sure if they would let you use a cart yourself.

@hilltopper152 I am, by no means, an OL expert. I am a DVC new owner, and I'm taking my welcome home trip in March of this year, and I just committed to an OL at the end of December. But, so far, OL has been great to work with. They say they have no problem with owners moving the lockers from one resort to the next, and they can drop of at one WDW resort and pick up at a different WDW resort.

I have two trips coming up...heading to Pop next week and then in late March I have one night at AK-Kidani and then we transfer to VGF for the rest of our welcome home trip. I sent a box of stuff (via UPS) to Pop last week, and I plan on having my OL delivered to Pop so I can load the stuff from the box to the OL. I will have OL pick up at the end of my Pop trip, and then I plan to have OL deliver to us for our March trip. I think I'm going to have them deliver to VGF when we transfer there...we can live one night without the treasures from the OL.

So, here are my very limited thoughts for an OL for you. You can definitely take your OL from one WDW resort to the next per OL rules, no problem. I understand your concern over the tub's bulk and "schlepping" it to the bell services area. If you're willing to take two trips or if you're able to schedule a bell service pick up that might be an option. Or, you could arrange to have your OL delivered to the second resort of your split stay, and live without it for the first part? It's my understanding that you don't have to be present at the resort when OL delivers. You pick the OL up at the front desk whenever. Those who are OL veterans, please correct any of this info if I've got it wrong! I'm a newbie, but I thought I'd share my experiences and plans so far.

Whatever you decide, I wish for you a magical trip!

Yeah I just don't actually get good quick service. When you are booking out in the morning they tend to be extra slow. I hate being dependent on them but guess that may have to be the way.

I do split stays often and use an OL. I've never had a problem having it transferred for me, but I often move it myself since I have refrigerated items that need to be moved. In that case, I load everything up in the car and drive it over to the next resort to give to bell services there. That way our stuff already there and waiting for us and the cold items are in the fridge at BS. If we get the room assignment early then there's no waiting around for our stuff.

I may do that. Just skip the first part of the trip with it. Stuff will already be with me at that point anyway. In future I may do some similar. Thank you

For me, the problem with moving my Owner's Lockers is not the size, but the weight. Even if I only have 1 of them delivered, I can't lift it myself.

You do not have to be present when Owner's Lockers delivers. If you are staying at a Disney-owned resort, they deliver to Bell Services (not the front desk). If you just joined and they are delivering an empty locker, you could pick it up yourself at Bell Services. For future trips, you could pick up the filled locker at Bell Services (if you can carry it) or have Bell Services bring it to your room.

When I leave, I always call Bell Services and have them come to the room to pick up the lockers. They take the lockers to Bell Services, and Owners Locker will pick them up from there. I don't do split stays, but I assume you could call Bell Services to pick up and take the locker and your luggage to be moved to the next resort later that day.

I personally wouldn't want to drop it off the night before. I would be concerned that the cast members at Bell Services wouldn't know why it was there, and it might not get moved to the next resort the next day.

So we do split stays with an OL, but have been doing rental cars recently so we just load it in the car. I will say that getting a cart from bell services is hit or miss... I think it depends on who is working and/or the resort. Some resorts have no problem with us taking a cart and other times we have been told we are not allowed to use the cart or they just don't have one depending on time of day. We use our changeover day as a rest/relax day though so we are never in a rush. We sleep-in and then do lunch/shopping around Disney Springs. On check-out day, we just make sure to call down to bell services as early as possible. If you are planning on getting to the park early that day then I would plan on the same. Call early and ask if you can come get a cart to transport it yourself. Or if they insist they have to do it, then at least it's early.

Yeah we never have a car. I figured I would just call early or get a cart. At BLT this is fast and easy. At maybe Jambo house this is slow and more time consuming I bet.

I haven't had much of an issue, but I also usually try to call them about an hour or so before I plan to leave the room. They usually come with lots and lots of time to spare.

Thanks, I may just give it a shot and hope for the best. Was just anxious I would slow my park eager wife down that morning with a "I told you so" ha
