Is an AP right for me?

I just came to agree with the comparison in cost for live entertainment. I suffered the TS day of torture to get tickets at KC. We attend several concerts a year. Two seasons ago we saw James Taylor at $250 each!

Prior to Covid my wife and I would go to 4 Broadway shows a year. It is expensive.

There are ways to save but we always purchased in advance and not discounted tickets the day of.

Thinking about it we need to start going again there are shows I want to see.

My sister and BIL both work on Broadway. Best ticket discount ever 😉. We took a surprise trip to visit them for New Years a few years ago, and my sister came up with these on 2 days notice. Standing room, but the Rodgers is tiny and at $40 each who is going to complain (in December 2016, there were still a good number of original principals and understudies in the cast). Probably seen a good 15 or 20 shows for free as well (Fences, In the heights, etc.).

Thanks for taunting me.

We have not seen Hamilton yet

Tagalong question— we are going over Christmas and then we will go again next November— does WDW work like Disneyland where we can use our expensive park hoppers for the length of our Christmas trip and then pay to upgrade to Incredipass (which would otherwise be blacked out for a few of our first trip dates) on the final day?

Relatedly, when do 2024 blackout dates for Incredipass get announced?

Unfortunately, Disney won't let you upgrade to an AP if the ticket you're upgrading was used during a blackout date for that particular AP.

But the good news is, the Incredi-Pass has no blockout dates! The DVC Sorcerer AP does, so you couldn't upgrade to the Sorcerer. But you could buy the Incredi-Pass and use that for both of your trips. There aren't any discounts on the Incredi-Pass, but you could buy Disney gift cards at a discount and use those to buy the APs and save a little money.

Thank you. I was thinking sorcerer pass, but it sounds like that won’t work. The rule at DLR has always allowed you to buy a pass even if you used the ticket on blacked out dates. Does it work differently on each coast or have the rules changed?

WDW did work the way you describe before Covid, but when APs came back it changed. I don’t know whether it changed for DLR too.

Correct. I don’t think it was COVID related, but rather they just closed a loophole…. And rightfully so imo.
