Just looking at the comments that I have seen. Is All Star Sports really that bad? We are planning to go in Sept and again in Jan. Were planning to stay at Sports BECAUSE we have children. I have a DS (6) and a nephew (5). This is what they chose from looking at the web site. We have stayed at POP and the FOOD WAS AWFUL!!!!!!!

Any help PLEASE

Lol Well at risk of getting flamed... (PLEASE no one take offense here, it's just my opinion alright, not a personal attack on anyone...) But the All Star Sports is WONDERFUL! When I have read the negative comments about it in the past I have literally cracked up. Here are the main "negatives" I've heard.

-Odd theming. (Okay, and they weren't surprised by it's theming? The pics of it show that it's a lot of huge sports things!)
- Loud (Well when you request right by the food court and ALL the guests have to walk past your room to eat your in a high traffic area!)
-The walk from the back of the resort it too far. (Are we not at WDW? WIll you not walk in the parks all day? Do they consider a 5-6 minute walk long? :rotfl: Because it's not! lol) The only problem one might have here is IF they are disabled and cannot walk well, asides from that the walk from the back of the resort is fun, quick, (heck my grandmother, after 2 hip replacements stayed at the back building and loved it of the All Star Music, and found hte walk pleasant, not long) and neat to see all the gigantic things.
- No restaurant. (Ah, and they didn't realize that was the different between moderates and a value? Truthfully the food courts at all the All Stars are the BEST ones, with the largest selections, of any food court in WDW, and they have healthy selections as well (or as healthy as you can get in WDW).
- Rooms are small. (Um....Still confused on this one. I know the square footage is a bit smaller but seriously, you don't hole yourself up in your hotel room all day everyday of your vacation. I've been to the All Stars with only 2 people, and up to 4 adults before, and we never felt "cramped.")

Basically I LOVE LOVE LOVE the All Stars! The only reason were not staying there for our honeymoon is that I want to show my husband (who's only been to the All Stars with me) some other resorts at WDW. :)

Again, these are just my opinions, but I find a lot of the 'reasons' for flaming the resort laughable. If there was bad room service I'd understand, but on our 3 visits there we found the cleanings better than what we had at the GF! You'll have a blast! ANd get ready for the impromptu football games!

DAWGPOUNDAJ....I'm glad to read your comments. We are staying at ALL Star Sports for the first time in July. We have enjoyed the other All Star resorts so thoght we would try it. I think our DS's(3 1/2 & 5 1/2) will really like it.

We have stayed at ASSP once and ASMO 3 times and have no complaints. Bus service is great, love the convenience and variety of the food court, CMs are helpful and friendly and the theming is great for the right people(in my case, kids who love Mighty Duck, Toy Story, all sports)....The price is just a bonus. ;)

Towels animals dont matter to me, but I have to say, the only place we have found them is at ASSP. ;)

We've stayed at ASMo 2X, ASSp 2X and POP 2X. We have no problems with the values. I have never encountered lots of loud noisy people- we've even stayed during Grad nite. Having a food court was fun for us. At ASSp and POP we've had rooms directly facing the pool and have not been bothered by noise. I took DS when he was 5 to ASSp and liked it more than ASMo!! People have opinions, but if you are going FOR the kids, I say you've made a great choice. :earsboy:

We stayed at AS Sports (not good to use abbreviation for this resort :teeth: ) a couple years ago. I was leary since we had stayed at moderates and deluxes in the past. We loved it. No complaints whatsoever. My kids (2 boys and 1 girl) loved it. I'm sure there are those who have had bad experiences but as you read here on the boards that can happen at any resort. If you go in knowing what to expect and that Sports doesn't have the same amenities as a deluxe (the only amenity my kids care about is POOL - even though they have one at home. :confused3 ) you will be fine. Go and enjoy!

I'm not much of a sports fan...

But I LOVED the All Star Sports Resort! Our family enjoyed it so much, we are staying there again on our next trip. We aren't ones to sit around the room or spend much time at the resort itself... so the room size, etc. really didn't bother us in the least.

Bus service was more than adequate, staff in general were friendly and helpful, and mousekeeping service was exceptional. We didn't have any problems with 'noise' during our visit. I will admit that we do not eat at the food court (too many other, yummy dinning options to explore at WDW), so I can't comment on that.

I'm not sure if I should give my opinion or not because I've only stayed there one night but DH and I thought it was really cute. DH is a coach so the theming was perfect for us. We didn't notice a lot of noise - but then we are both pretty heavy sleepers. I remember that check-in took no time and they were great about checking us out and moving our luggage to AKL. We didn't try out the food court or the pool.

I think you will have a great time!

We stayed at ASSp last year. We enjoyed it. We stayed in the touchdown section. It was just a short walk to the pool and the food court. We did not have any problems with the bus service either.

Welllllllllllllllllllllll. Let's see... Stayed there x2 w DH and HS softball team. hmmmm.... Families w little ones will love it. Fun theming. Colorful. But... our shower was moldy, the soap dispenser was full of mold, the outdoor walkway to the room was sticky for a week, the bed was comfortable. And... DH and I are in our 50's enjoy gourmet food, fine wines, cocktails, and comfort. There is not one place to sit and be comfortable anywhere in ASSp. Soooo... we snuck over to the Dolphin for the nurse's rate and left the kids w the coach (we were not chaperones, thank goodness). Also the noise and just terrible behavior from the multiple unchaperoned kids in for the grad nites was unbearable. One kid threw his full drink at a wall and it smashed into bits and no one did anything about it!!
Therefore, if you have little ones it will be fun, or go to the other AS's, or check to see when huge crowds of teens will be arriving.
Please see that this is only one families opinion. Most folks have a grand ol time there. Have a magical time :wizard: .

Thanks for all the info. As you can see by my signature we have stayed at All-Star sports before (because of DS). We thought it was great. And like someone else said. We are there for WDW Not to be in our room alot!!! We didn't know if we were wierd or what.

Thanks

We have stayed at ASMu once and ASSp 2x. We have also stayed at POFQ, POP and we just came back from CSR. We tend to go value when we take DD and mod when it is adults only. I feel like the theming at the values is more family freindly and at the mods more oriented for adults. We have always had a wonderful time at the AS's, but we were disappointed a little with our Dec '04 trip to POP. We really didn't like the food court, so we went to eat at ASMu with DSIL who was staying there with her family. I like to try all the resorts, so we are slowly making our way around. We plan on trying WL this Dec. All that said, I think you will have a wonderful time with your family as long as you are not expecting a "deluxe" experience.

We're going to ASSP in 17 days! (just had to add that;))

We loved the ASSP, we had a great room, we were in the baseball building facing the ASMU and the parking lot. It was quiet, DS was 2 at the time so we spent from about 7:30-8pm on in the room. We never ate at the food court- off site for some dinners and breakfasts, we had our own car that trip, this trip we will be using DME, so we'll be onsite the entire time. Our room was clean and we had a great time. I can't wait to go back, it's a GREAT place for kids lots of room to run around and play. I would love for DH and I to take a trip w/o the kiddos, and we would likely stay there even if it were just the two of us.

Personally, I think that there can be problems where ever you stay, it's a chance you take anywhere. I've read more posts about problems at other hotels than ASSP (not that they don't have their share of problems), I almost never see it mentioned.

We stayed at Sports for 5 days, it was a last minute thing, and it was the only place that had an AP rate left. We got 2 rooms on the second floor (7 people, 3 kids 3, 6, 8). I really thought we would hate it! It was a value, and we hate sports! Well, we all ended loving it. It was such a quick walk to the food court, the kids loved the arcade and turning in their tickets for prizes, the pool was nice and big. We had no problem with noise, maybe the 2nd floor helped. I actually drove over to All Star movies, and even though i enjoyed the movie Icons, the place was a zoo! The pool was full, a huge line in the Food Court, and noisy! I went back to the nice quiet All Star Sports. I recommended it to my mom for her trip last, and she didn't want to try it either. But she trusted me and spent 10 days there and her, my sister and 2 nieces (5,9) all loved it too. I would recommend a preferred room, maybe 2nd floor if your worried about noise or foot traffic.
