Dear DVC friends,

I have a bad case of addonitis. However, my husband doesn't. Is there any surefire way to pass this debilitating sickness on to him? :scratchin

How about if you win the lottery? :teeth: :lmao:

Best wishes -

As I've said before, I crave points the way Whitney Houston craves crack. However, I've been resisting any further add-ons. When I start thinking of possibly buying more, I force myself to think about what I currently pay in maintenance fees, and the thought of even higher maintenance fees is a good deterrent. I think I've got enough points to meet my needs. If there's a particular year when the points I get with banking, current year, and borrowing just don't cut it, I'll rent additional ones.

But in your case, if you really need more, I'd get your husband excited about a dream Disney trip and then pull the rug out from under him by then saying you don't have enough points for it. That might be enough to get him to want some more.

Considering the email I got today about free 1 day passes with a 50 pt add-0n AND $400 off...or free annual passes with a 130 pt add on .

YES>>>>>>ITS CONTAGIOUS !!!!! :p

I wrote that this morning and THEN I saw the email about the downpayment assistance and passes!! I am in point debt up to my eyeballs, but a 75 point add-on would alleviate a great deal of my "point" stress. :bitelip:

Tammy Tammy Tammy!

We just did an add-on (I've been wanting to for months) and my hubby always hit me with "don't we have anough points?" :sad2:

I came to the conclusion that it's all about how you present it to them....Here's how I got him to agree.....

It's been a couple of years since he's been to WDW. He normally stays home to take care of the pets when my DD & I go, so, he's really been wanting to go.

I decided to make plans for a trip for just the two of us and about two weeks ago, I started asking him his opinion.....He wanted to stay at either BWV or SSR, but I told him that we didn't have enough points left, but that I'd try to get us a nice room at an AP rate.

I ended up booking the AKL in a concierge room & he just about had a duck at the cost, but he thought it seemed nice. After a couple of days, I started "talking" about the fact that we could take that few thousand dollars & buy more points & that really got him thinking.

He ended up seeing the light & told me that if I wanted to add-on to go ahead and buy the points that I needed....He was so thrilled that I was able to book the first 5 nights at the BWV in a 1 BR with a BW view, he doesn't even care that I just spent his whole 2005 bonus....The free AP's totally sealed the deal & he's happy as a clam.

I'll admit it, I did scam a bit to get him to agree, but he's not questioning it at all. I get my points, he gets his vacation & we're both smiling! :teeth:

Tink Tink Tink,

I almost had him a few weeks ago before the F&F was over, but it didn't work. I appreciate any and all ideas that I get.

Tammy.

Tammy....

Tink10 had a great idea and it seemed to work for her. Yes... If you can get him to think it's "his" idea that might do it. :thumbsup2

Another way would be to give it to him as a gift. It worked for me once. If he has a b'day or special holiday coming up ... just get it ... and surprise him with it. He couldn't refuse it or be mad then! ;)

One year I hid my April bonus $$ and make ressies @ the GF for the following May. I gave it to DH for a Christmas present. WOW was he surprised, but it was terrible keeping that secret all year and he didn't care about me hiding that $$ :teeth: .

BTW.... I will get in touch with you as our vacation nears...lunch sounds great!! :goodvibes

Dear TA:

What is this addonitis you mention, never heard of it!

Is there a vaccine?

A google search reveals that....

"....It's always fatal, and it don't get better!"

Seneca---I am ready for lunch too. Just let me know what you have in mind.

I have had a fever, from this disease, but it tends to come and go. When I got the email in the mailbox about the incentives for the 50 point add-on, my fever returned. I have been resting and spending more time on the community and cruise boards. It's the constant yearning from deep in my being that is bothering me the most. :p

We had addonitis until our last purchase. It goes away when you get more points then you can hope to use.

I haven't received the email that everyone keeps mentioning. I may have to call my guide Monday and ask her what's going on.
