Is adding MMB always better than just adding Photopass?

If I am reading it right, you get the same Photopass plus all the MMB extras for $99? Just adding photopass to an AP is $99. Is there a difference ?

I think you only get photo pass for 30 days with MMB

Correct…so if you want a years worth of pictures, and have the AP, then the $99 add on is a better deal.

But, those who only buy it for one trip anyway, this is a straight up discount of what it costs to buy.

So, even an owner who doesn’t need any of the other benefits, it’s still a savings!!!

Sorry to post this question here but I couldn’t find the general MMB thread and didn’t want to start a new one lol

Just curious if anyone knows how it works if you purchase an AP with points but want to add the full use photopass onto the AP. Do you pay for that separately with cash or is there a points option for that, too?

From the FAQs:
Q: I purchased a Disney Sorcerer Pass using Vacation Points. Can I add on the Water Park and Sports option or other upgrades?
A. Upgrades cannot be purchased using Vacation Points. Please call Member Services, or visit a Walt Disney World Resort Guest Relations location to upgrade a pass.

Awesome, I figured as much but I appreciate the confirmation! I prefer paying cash for the upgrade anyway so it’s fine we can’t use points.

One you've purchased a pass with points, it shows up in your MDE just like any other ticket purchase. From the pass view in MDE, there is a button to Upgrade Pass. Clicking on that will allow you to upgrade the Sorcerer Pass to the IncrediPass and/or allow you to add the PhotoPass and Water Park and Sports options. You don't have to call to do it, although you can.

You can use any valid direct/unrestricted points including OTUP (im not sure about transferred points however)
I just purchased one last week with points and they used some of my resale points 🤷🏼‍♀️ don’t know if anyone else has had this happen, likely was accidental but just wanted to let people know my experience since it was very recent.

Just FYI, that translates to about $15.23 per point for the renewal, a few dollars under the going rate for renting points, without the hassle. For a new pass, the equivalent is about $15.32 per point.

It wasn't an accident. We used resale points, and many others have reported DVC allowing those points to be used for APs through MMB.

More FYI:

That $15.32 pp is if you are using ALL your own points. If you can also take advantage of all 24 of the bogo OTUPs, the value you get for "your" points goes up to $17.83. (51pts × $17.83 + 24otup × $10 = $1149.33)

More than happy to make this deal (and did)
