If I needed a few more points, I'd definitely consider it. It can be hard to find reasonably-priced small contracts via resale, especially if you need a particular use year.Wondering if bought resale and have the first set of restrictions. Would they keep the grandfather rules or should we buy a 25 add on for insurance.
If you are grandfathered before april 2016 then you are all good as you dont lose the membership extra and still have the blue membershipcard. I honestly dont think they would take that away. They could take away all benefits, but then it would be for all members not just you.

Financially I couldn’t get the numbers to work out. Having said that you can go to things like moonlight magic and other DVc member events. If those are important to you then it may be worth it - no longer a financial decision at that point imo.
I needed a small contract for the points. I tried to get resale but direct after the $100 closing and current years' points was about $300 more. For that, I wasn't going to mess about with resale, particularly as I needed those points sharpish for a booking I've just made. So I have the blue card.
Would I have bought direct just to get the blue card? Probably not. As a UK buyer, I only go once every other year and for 10-14 days. A UK Ultimate 14 day ticket is still cheaper than a discounted annual pass and does me fine.
Will DVC suddenly say people with 25 direct add one not get perks? They could, as perks are marketing paid for by DVD, but I'd be amazed if they did. Imagine all the headlines - DVC took away my perks because I didn't buy enough points with them.
I think DVD for the time being have worked out well publicised perks, such as the lounge and Moonlight Magic, sell an awful lot of DVC.
It will be interesting to see what the world of perks brings in 2018.
Happy Christmas everyone.
Unless you need the points I wouldn't. They won't give you additional options on the points you currently have. If you need the points, I'd evaluate on the cost for what you want/need without consideration for the retail restrictions since you don't lose anything of value having the first set of restrictions but not the second..Wondering if bought resale and have the first set of restrictions.
