Hi,

I think i read somewhere that us Brits can still get AAA discounts by showing an AA membership card? Can somebody please confirm this please?
I have added a night at the Hard Rock Hotel and the AAA rate is pretty good - $183. Has anyone shown an AA card at check in and has it all been fine?!
ALso, my partners AA membership comes with his bank account so he doesnt have the typical bright yellow membership card, he has one with Lloyds Tsb select or premium account (something like that) on it and there is an AA symbol on it, will this be adequate?

What about the irish AA , anyone know

I can't answer this from personal experience, but I did raise this very same question a couple of months back and was told absolutely yes. The AA discount is exactly the same as the AAA one. Just request the rate and show your card at check in.

Yes, I have AA and have used it to get AAA discounts at hotels and at some resturants.

In the states: AA is Alcoholics Anonymous and AAA is American Auto Association.

Two totally different memberships.

Thats 'Automobile Association' in the UK!! They are linked to the AAA in the states, and as far as I know you can use the uk version to get the same discounts. The AA used to have a travel booklet for the states with details of discounts in, check out the website or give them a call.

If you look on the back of your AA breakdown card there is a red, white and blue symbol. That is the ARC europe symbol, which gives you the AAA discounts in the U.S. and yes, you can get discounts at Universal Hotels with your AA card. I have used it to get a AAA discount and never been asked to show the card at check-in.

If you go to the Loews Hotels website , here >> http://www.loewshotels.com/default.asp# and put "AAA" in the promotional code box, you will then get the discounted rate.

The beauty of using the AAA discount over other discounts like the APH, FAN etc is the fact that you don't lose any of your Loews benefits. For instance you can use the discounted AAA rate and still get a suite upgrade with a platinum card.

Well, well, well, i never knew this! All the years i have been to Florida and i never had a clue. I also get AA cover as part of my LSTB staff account, thats great, will have to check what discounts i could get!
Thanks guys!

Unless your AA membership is direct with AA you cannot use AAA discounts. The AVA accounts with Lloydstsb do not give you the AA membership cards that you need to get the AAA discount. I have confirmed this with Lloydstb PLATINUM AA services. :sad2:

You can definitely use your AA card (UK and Ireland and any other European country) to get discounts in the U.S.

They (all the AA clubs) belong to the 'Show Your Card and Save' group which, as a previous poster said, you can see on your AA card with the red, white & blue symbol.

We got the AA rate at POFQ last year but later went with the AP. We used our AA card at the Hard Rock Hotel though and we're using it this year at All Star Movies (rate incl tax is 95 a night instead of 115 or so).

Just don't forget, when asking for a quote if you call CRO, ask for the "Triple A discount", not AA.

Don't forget to bring your card with you to show at check-in.

There's info here about the Show Your Card discounts at AA Ireland http://www.aaireland.ie/membership/showcard.asp

To get the discounts at Disney resorts you need to do it over the phone, not online.

I also have LLoyds TSB PLatium, but, there is the option to UPGRADE the service, I think it is for only one class, as platimum cover has everything almost. But, when you do this, (about £30 for the year) they send you a card and you get an indovodual membership number. If you call them they will tell you what you can upgrade to and it is only a small amount.

I know this as it is what I have been doing for the last few years.

Thanks for that ! I know the AA cover with LTSB is too confusing as it comes with all 3 AVA accounts with higher levels of cover for the top accounts. For the price I would pay to upgrade my AA to get the card and the difference between APH rates and AAA rates it probably wouldnt be worth it for me (I have a USO AP). Thanks for that info I am sure it will benefit many :thumbsup2
