I am thinking about going to US/IOA in August. I am just wondering if a week is too long for two parks? I am thinking about adding on DC. Opinions are most welcome!! Thanks.

We went a couple of weeks ago. It was so hot we only lasted a couple of hours in the parks each day. Twice we spent hours at the water play place at Universal. We had leftover Disney pluses so we also did two water park days. Discovery Cove would have been a wonderful addition but we were going budget this past trip.

We usually go in the summer when it is crowded and if you get to each park at opening you should be able to do each park in one day. I would think a week is too long for just universal.

as much as I love those parks, a week can be a little long between both parks. you need to break them up with a day off.

It's all subjective.

I've read stories of people who stay a week and love it.
But I think it's too long. I find after 3 or 4 days, I'm ready to go home and the park life starts to play with my head.
Agree that if you arrive early, you can do each park in a few hours, leave when it gets hot, then come back at night. Most plan on 3 days at USF/IOA with the idea of visiting a park each day, and then favorites on the 3rd.
You can add DC/SWF if you want more parks to visit. And if you want to drive the 75 miles, you can visit BGT. SWF also has a shuttle that goes over to BGT. You can also add WnW as a water park. So now you've got 6 possible parks to pick from, and none of them are Disney.

we stayed on site last year for a week and it was great! Because we had FOTL, we would go to the parks for a few hours each day and spend the rest of the time at the hotel.

We stayed for over a week this summer - did DC and Seaworld also. We had a blast! It was a very fun and relaxing vacation.

I would definately do a week on-site without hesitation. If I could stretch the budget, I would do DC which would get me into Sea World for seven days I believe. That would be at least two non Universal days--but you are staying at an awesome hotel. I might be tempted to go out to the Pirate Adventure dinner show, but usually when we are at UO we don't like to leave to go to dinner.

We would love to be able to do a week. Staying on-site, Universal Orlando is one of the most relaxing vacations ever!
