Is a Saturday in June good for Hollywood?

I'm trying to finalize our itinerary for our June 14 through Jun 21 trip.

I was thinking we'd go to Hollywood on Sat, June 18 but wasn't sure if that would be a good time to go.

My husband wants to see the Chinese Theatre plus we were thinking of driving to the La Brea tarpits and checking out that area.

It's either that day or Monday June 20th but I was thinking that area might be more crowded then and I'd rather go to DL on our last day.

I'm also thinking that we'd do Universal on Thursday June 16th since it's grad night at DL and the rest of the family would rather sleep in and stay out later than get out of bed early and go to bed earlier. (This is going to be a hard trip for me. I'm an early to bed/early to rise person. )

What do the experts think?

You forgot to give one important bit of information. Where are you staying?

Driving from Anaheim to L.A. would certainly be quicker and less stressful on Saturday.

some photos of USH on page 1 and of the tar pits & museum on page 2 of the DIsboard-famous theme park photo thread

Saturdays there are more people out touring but less traffic on the roads. Monday there are fewer people out touring, but more traffic because of people going to and coming from work.

Universal on a Thursday is a good time.

We decided to park ourselves in Anaheim for the trip since my husband wants to spread out our DL/DCA time instead of doing 3 days in a row.

I have to admit I'm surprised at how early Universal Hollywood closes. I was checking out the time and it's closing as early as 6pm on some days that week.
I've been to US Hollywood before and we really needed 12 hours to do everything my husband wanted. Should be interesting to see what we can squeeze in knowing that he and the kids aren't going to want to get out of bed early.

I also have the hours for La Brea tar pits so I think we will be doing that on Saturday along with whatever my husband wanted to do in Hollywood. That way I can get up early and get laundry done while they all sleep without feeling stressed that we are missing something fun.

He mentioned wanting to do the Queen Mary too so I'll get the info and see if there's any deals for tickets just in case we have time to squeeze it in. Might as well be prepared.

And he's now said he will be having dinner with 2 different friends on 2 different nights so the kids and I will be on our own. :rolleyes1 It will be interesting to see if that works out.

At least we are staying at HoJo Anaheim so I can add days to the kids and my tickets and go to DL extra if he does that. Hmmm, I'd better check and see if I can do that since we aren't getting our tickets direct from DL. I found a link on mousesavers to get them from a travel company that will save us some money. I haven't gotten them yet so if I can't add days to those, I'd rather wait and get them from DL.

Good thing I don't mind doing planning and research or else I'd be driving myself nuts. :crazy2:
