Is a price increase expected very soon?

I received an email from Undercover Tourist on Dec 8 that says, "Our annual price rise is just around the corner..."

But I haven't seen anything about it on this board which is where I usually hear about it first? Thoughts?

They are just guessing based off history. We normally see a price increase in the early part of the year. Usually around February.

Thanks! I wasn't prepared to purchase budget-wise yet but might have if they were truly about to go up tomorrow or something. I have tickets for my next trip already but will want to have an extra set for someday... :)

I am curious.....if I purchase a 4 day hopper before an increase, and then add 2 days when I arrive next November...does that basically negate the savings? or does the add-on still work out to just $15 approx per day?

Isn't tax suppose to go up in janurary another .5%? even if disney doesn't up the price, the total cost will go up .5% more with the tax change. I couldn't actually find anything saying it was going up though.

Of course it doesn't really matter for these excuses that the facts are that the economy is pretty healthy these days with unemployment at near record lows.

(Laughing)..... to answer the original question? Of COURSE there is a price increase coming :). No one exactly knows WHEN. It will affect all ticket tiers. It will be a good 3% plus :). If there were a way to directly invest in this? I would do it :). No - Disney stock is too spread out....

We are DVC owners. Prior to getting involved? We tracked all this in past years. Every Calendar year, our spreadsheet projects a 3.5% price increase for dues, food, AP costs.... we've generally been pretty close, for 10 years :). More specific? Our spreadsheet is set up for "Government reported inflation + 2%".

So I'm going to project general price increases close to 4% - for everything. Just us - could be wrong.....

It will depend if the price increase includes tiers for different dates. If the 2 days you are adding are at different price point, it could be more. If you know you're going to need 6 days, why not purchase a 6 day park hopper now? There has been a lot of discussion on the theme park board about when to add days, price bridging, etc. You may get more accurate info on your question by posting on that board.

Do you think they will try to tier the multi day tickets?

I'm very interested to learn if 2017 is the year Disney goes to tired multi-day tickets. It's been rumored for several years.

The last 3 years (2014,2015,2016) price increase was end of February. Last AP price increase was actually October 2015. They haven't gone more than 12 months without a ticket price increase in at least 15 years, and often less. I expect it will be end-of-February again this year, but I wouldn't be surprised if it is more modest than in the last few years. I think they are finally seeing push-back against the pricing ...i.e.erosion of customer base.

I'm *really* hoping it doesn't. We were planning on buying our tickets with the Canadian discount. However, two vehicle breakdowns, unexpected glasses for my son, and just needing to financially plan for likely at least two medical trips before June has put a serious crimp in our plans. In fact, I've pretty well scrapped the June 2017 trip and am planning on June 2018 instead... though my fingers are still crossed for a contest I entered ;) We're still hoping to buy at least 2 of the 4 tickets, but... I'm also worried that if they tier the multi-day tickets, it will be more of an increase than we can take on. Due to DH's schedule we can only travel during the peak times - and that survey with proposed pricing they sent out a year or so ago, was a very significant increase, because not only was there an increase because of the tiering, but they had reduced the overall multi-day discount you got.

The unemployment rate is only at near record lows because the not in labor force is at a record high. This has pushed us to a new record number of welfare recipients and the poverty level reaching a 50 year high. The economy only looks to be healthy due to unsustainable deficit spending. Alas, that's all a huge discussion for another thread.

Take the official rate and double it. Some say maybe even more. People who have given up aren't counted.

Same for inflation. About double. Everything is not counted in the official figure. This is how they screw those on social security.

Just a reminder to stay within the guidelines of the disboards. Political discussion are not allowed. You've all been warned.

You are right plus a lot of new jobs are low paying. Lots of good jobs have been lost recently. But lower paying jobs still needs people.

Exactly. New hires that come to work where I work can be working beside a veteran employee doing the exact same job making a wage of $4 an hour less. Disgusting. And thus, the 25% turnover rate.
