Is a live-action Sleeping Beauty in the works at Disney?

I heard from my mom that a live-action version of Sleeping Beauty is in development at Disney and I would love to know if you heard about this? According to what my mom told me they have already cast the actress who will play Princess Aurora and they also have cast the actor who will play Prince Phillip but it doesn't say who they are. I hope this Sleeping Beauty remake will perform good and make Disney big money

Well, this movie is in rumored development, so I am not sure it will ever come to be. Lots of movie ideas get kicked around, and based on the performance of Snow White, I don't know that Disney will pursue another princess movie remake for a while. Honestly, they already did a live action version with Maleficent, though at least it was radically different and not a straight remake. Of course, that was back when that sort of thing could be successful.

I think if and when Disney starts production on the live-action Sleeping Beauty they will try to make it good and my guess that when it hits theaters it will be successful as the live-action Beauty And The Beast was. But I think if it's done right it will look beautiful

Anything that's only in development may or may not make it out of development (like the three different Star Wars trilogies and a dozen other Star Wars projects that were announced as in development and so far have not become anything that someone can watch).

The basic story of Sleeping Beauty worked very well in the late 1950s. I'm not sure that's true today. I think the failure of the live action Snow White scared them off live action remakes, especially those that dramatically differ from the original animated version for quite some time.

See, though, that's exactly what they should be doing with the remakes. Do something different - get a little crazy! That's better than a straight remake, though would probably be less popular.

I want versions of those stories in different settings or genres, like Snow White in space, Sleeping Beauty in a Mad Max type dystopia, modern-day Cinderella.

I could maybe get down on that, depending. They just need to make them stylish, cool, and interesting. Of course, if they change any little aspect, all of the fans go crying that they've ruined it!
