Is a gift card to DSW shoe store odd or o.k.?

My SIL has me stumped this ear, we get along great and I usually have a easy time buying for her. I used my good ideas on her Birthday last month...and I do have a cool purse already, so I thought shoess too, but she would need to pick those out.
Would you think it too impersonal to receive a GC there?

If you are giving her the purse, I think the gift card for the shoes is fine. I wouldn't want someone to buy shoes for me as a gift, they really need to be tried on.

I was trying for this BEFORE Christmas, lol...so I could get some ideas while we were shopping, but she has no time. I think I will do this if I can't come up with anything else. So far I have the purse, a CD, and then a "late morning survival bag" with coffee, throw away coffee cups,instant breakfast bars, panera bread certificate for lunch( since no time to make a lunch in the A.M. of a late morning) cute hair clip( in case of a bad hair day) and $10 cab fare from the train.

I was figuring that, well, you know, since things are tight these days, that if she had a gift card it would work out for the "man, if I had some spare cash I woud totally get those" pair of shoes.

As a total shoe person (Just call me Imelda!) I'd love a giftcard to a shoe store. I love shopping & bargaiin hunting so the giftcard would allow me to get more for my money.
