I would hold onto it until you know for sure what you would like to do and you may find a better time. I was able to get a 6pm time just a few days ago for my stay in early November.

You know your children best as to if that would work. You may want to start later in the day and let them sleep in if they can. My kids at that age were always up early so sleeping in wasn't an option but it may be for you

At this time keep your reservation & continuously check for a better time.

FWIW, only you know your kids and their eating/sleeping patterns. MY DD6 would be beyond hungry at 9:05pm, maybe not sleepy in Disney. She has a different sleep pattern in WDW.

Also, the time depends on what your day is like. We arrived in WDW in June around 1pm after leaving home @ 5:30am. So our eating/sleeping pattern was already off for this day-which we knew. We utilized DME, hotel check in, appetizers @ Sanaa, Disney transportation to park, etc. We had an BoG ADR @ 7pm (only one available---and worked for our schedule being our travel day), but at 9pm she was sleepy and ready to go. Wouldn't even go on 7DMT (we had FP+). 7pm is later than what we usually eat, but it worked for our travel day.

IMO, BoG is a great experience. We have eaten there 3 times & DD6 loves it! However, if you are going to have tired, hungry, grumpy kids (due to the time) it's not worth it. This could potentially dictate your next day too. However, if your kids can handle the time with being reasonably happy/content eating at this hour & traveling back to resort. Remember meal will not be over until ~10:30pm. Walking to front of park, Disney transportation wait/or walking to car---this could be from 11pm-Midnight depending on crowds, mode of transportation, transportation wait & travel times.

This is your vacation. You will not see everything this trip or the next. But you will have your memories from this trip. Always remember to have fun and enjoy the Disney experience!!! :thumbsup2

I have a CRT for my two girls (3 and 6 years old) at 9:20 pm. Probably a recipe for disaster, but it's all I could get. Plus, it's our first day at WDW and we're from Texas, so it'll "feel" like 8:20 to them, and they've stayed up until 10-11 pm on plenty of occasions, so I'm hoping the adrenaline will get them through.

I voted too late but obviously I don't know your kids at all. My son is younger (just turned 4) and NO way could he do a dinner that late. Heck I couldn't eat that late, so he definitely couldn't. And he'd have a breakdown I could almost guarantee it.

However, my friends daughter is five and has stayed up late for her entire life, so she would have more luck with it.

I'd keep looking for something earlier personally - stuff does open up. Also join the cancellation thread for your month if you haven't already. That's how I got our last BOG at 4:55 on a party night in September. It worked out perfectly, but I got it from that board.

If the reservation is between 12/2-12/5, then I think it's way too late. Any other time, it's fine, let them stay up.

Just kidding, you know your kids best (and I know my upcoming MK schedule).

Ha ha!!! That's cute. It's not during then. I promise :)

I definitely think it's family specific. My children would never make it to dinner that late, but they are often in bed by 7-7:30 PM and literally NEVER sleep in (I mean, not even past 6:30) so I wouldn't do it. We have really good friends, however, whose kids are often up until 11-12 and sleep in really well, and I'm sure they would be fine. So, I would just go with what your family is used to. However, if your kiddos are like mine, I definitely wouldn't keep the ADR just to experience BOG. We love BOG, but it's just not going to be enjoyable if everyone is cranky and tired.

If you take a long afternoon break it might not be so bad. We had a CRT dinner at 8:50pm one time, and 4yo DD did fine. But she took a 3 hour nap from about 2-5pm. And we are used to eating late anyway (usually around 8pm during the week). Keep trying for something you like better, but I wouldn't give that one up if it's all you can do!

What about just going for dessert?? My dd is 9, and I know she wouldn't be able to hold out for dinner that late, and I don't think anyone in my family would really enjoy a heavy dinner that late. But, a quick service dinner around 6pm, followed by dessert at 9 would work well for us. That way you can enjoy the atmosphere and meet the beast, just in a shorter time span.

Thank you - that's a good idea.

I know that time would be way too late for my kids. I have a 15 month old who is in bed by 7:30 and an 8 year old that's in bed by 8:30. When we are at disney though I usually pick 1 nighttime thing for me to do with my older son so he doesn't feel like we are catering to the baby lol. This year we did the Pirates and pals cruise which he thought was really fun and next year I am going to try and get reservations for the wishes dessert party.

Anyways I would keep it though and just obsessively check for cancellations. I think there's a board on here for bog cancellations. Worse comes to worse u could always go the FP lunch route.

it's up to how your kids are. My kids would be fine but I would have to make the next day as a sleep in day for my 6 year old. Otherwise I bet he would have a bad attitude! :furious: I would hold it and still look for an earlier reservation just in case you get lucky! Good Luck!!!

I'd say yes. Service is very slow there (not to mention you might have to wait past your ADR time to be seated) and kids of that age might not handle it well. For my kids, when they were that age, that would be close to melt down time after all day in the parks.
