Hi,

My husband and I are toying with the Idea of coming over from England and having a break to just universal at the end of September. We're looking at Sunday to Friday which would give us 4 and a half days in the parks, and we'll probably include wet n wild in this. Is this too long for just universal? We have visited before as part of a two week holiday where we had 2 days at universal.
Thanks in advance everyone :goodvibes

I'm the wrong person to answer as I stay onsite for 14 days.........

I never run out of things to do as I take it at a slow pace
It's my way of vacationing
No all day periods in the parks as I enjoy sitting around the pool, checking out city walk and catching up with friends in Orlando

We're awful for running round things really quickly so we probably do need to slow down and take it all in :rotfl2:

We are doing the same Sun - Fri so 4.5 days and I've been wondering the same. But I think if we take it slow, see all the shows and just relax, it will be perfect.

If you are concerned about that being too long you can always consider the Orlando Flexticket.

My husband and I went for the first time in early March. We had four day tickets, but were actually there 4 1/2 days. We loved the experience but found that three days in the parks was plenty. On the fourth day, we were really just re-riding our favorites (some of which we had already re-ridden during the first three days). We can't wait to take the kids but we will buy three day tickets for our next trip.

We stayed at Cabana Bay, so no Express Pass, and we didn't use the early entry. We did find the parks to be VERY empty on our first two days (a Thursday and Friday)--as in, 0 to 10 minute wait for Spiderman all day and 0 to 15 minute waits for Harry Potter rides.

Thanks for your replies everyone, we were looking at cabana bay too so have the option of the early entry if it is busy. Hopefully that will be the perfect amount of time for us :goodvibes

Being the end of September, you also have the option of Halloween Horror Nights on on or several evenings. The hardest part may be deciding on the best way to do ticketing. To get WnW the 3 park ticket might make sense. But, with 4+ days in the parks and an onsite stay an annual pass might make sense. If you were wanting to do one night at HHN going all the way to the premier pass might make sense for the included HHN ticket and after 4:00 express pass (during regular park hours not HHN). But, if you want to go multiple nights to HHN one of the HHN multi night passes might be better. Also, an annual pass could save you on hotel rates.

We were there for a day last year. Stayed at portofino with early entry and express pass. Did both parks and did all th rides we wanted. Can't imagine two days let alone 4. But glad you love it so much. We have no desire to ever go back. Have fun.

We just returned from a 4 day trip (Wednesday - Saturday). We arrived in the parks at 12:30pm on Wednesday, spent all day Thrs and Friday. We spent from 8am- 2:30pm on Saturday at the park. We stayed at PBH and had Unlimited express pass but only went to the park early on Saturday. I totally love USF/IOA. That said, 4 days was really enough time to see everything - especially with express passes and EE. We've stayed in Orlando for 7 day stretches and bought a flex ticket to spend time at Sea World, Aquatica and Busch Gardens in addition to USF/IOA.

We've previously brought a two Park ticket (can also come with wnw) which lasts for two weeks. I know it's more than we need but I think price wise it works out Almost the same as booking the tickets through universal. I'm not sure if that type of ticket is available in the USA or not...

I would say to take your time and explore, the parks and hotels. If you find yourself getting bored then go explore Florida; plenty of parks and nature sites, some great museums, visit some of the city's or towns.

Fab idea. Is it easy to get around without a car? We've always hired one when we've stayed for longer but weren't planning on hiring one this time because we wouldn't need it for most of the days.

The time you need depends on many things: how you like to tour, the attractions you want to see, the attractions you don't want to see, the weather, when you start your day, how much time you prefer to spend in the parks during a day, if you have front of the line privileges, the time of year - so this is difficult to answer without more info.

We usually go for five days and never run out of things to do. A couple of days if fine if all you do is hit the major attractions during a non-busy time. But if you take your time wandering around, say, both Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley, visiting the shops and browsing, that could easily chew up a half day right there. We spend at least a half day going through City Walk just browsing. Throw in a pool day, mini golf, a Blue Man Group show, the many fine restaurants in City Walk and the resorts, the night life available, the special events held around the year, and doing ALL attractions in both parks (not just a favorite few), and we find it hard to do everything we want to do in those five days.

We love Universal because it is a relaxing vacation, and not a mega planning/strategy/booking ahead and yet still wait forever in lines for everything vacation like some other parks offer (not mentioning any names . . .).

we stayed 3 nights at Cabana bay last September and had 3 days in the parks which was more than enough time to do all the rides and shows we wanted to do. The lazy river is fun at the Cabana and there are movie nights and a bowling alley. There is also city walk with plenty of places to eat & drink and a cinema, your also not far from the shopping malls.

Go for it.

We are English did 7 nights cabana bay 2014 just doing Universal and MNSSHP

2015 we had 10 nights at Cabana as part of a longer trip and did 6 Universal park days

Flying in on this saturday for a week and just doing Universal parks again. Will have 6 park days plus mini golf at citywalk, bowling at cabana and pool time.

Halloween horror nights will be on in September if that is your cup of tea. Or take a cab to disney and do MNSSHP.

Personally, I think 4.5 days sounds like a nice relaxing trip to me. I could easily do 1 day at each park, 1 day in the HP sections, 1 day at a water park, and .5 a day at Citiwalk or at the resort. However, we tend to experience about 75% to 90% of the rides and attractions at least once when we go, our favorites more than once, and we eat at least 1 nice sit down meal a day. We hardly ever skip anything unless the weather is too cold for the water rides. We also spend a good deal of time on non-attraction entertainment such as: window shopping, nice meals, snacks, street performers, character meets, taking pics, spraying people on the raft ride (a must do for every trip), exploring the HP area (sending owl mail, playing with interactive wands, etc.), and any special concerts or parades going on. It is the one thing I love most about Universal; we don't have to rush around unless I plan a 1 day trip. We can just take our time, relax, and still fit everything I want to do in. I don't have to make the choice between staying and watching the acrobats we stumbled upon or experiencing the attraction we were on our way to because I know we can fit both in.

Now, will 4.5 days be too much for you? Hard to tell without knowing what all you plan on doing. It is impossible to say how many days are too few or too many as each guest tours differently. Are there enough things to do at Universal (Citiwalk, resorts, parks) to keep you busy 4.5 days? Yes. Will you want to do them all? Probably not. Will you find enough? Only you can answer that.

My advice would be to make a list of what you are interested in doing at each park and at Citiwalk. From there, you can estimate about how much time those attractions are going to take you (travel time if applicable + attraction run time + wait time). Wait time will be fairly low end of Sept about 10-15 mins off hours and less popular rides to 30-1hr headliners and busiest parts of day. Less if you're staying on property and can skip the lines, estimate about 10-15 for everything. You can also simplify the equation by simply saying each park takes about 1 to 1.5 days to see everything once if I tour open to close. I want to do half the attractions at 1 park, so I need .5 to .75 of a day open to close. This would translate to 1 day for someone who sleeps in, arrives late, and then leaves for dinner in Citiwalk, so there's my .5 to .75 of a day. Also, don't forget to factor in meals if you plan on having any sit down ones (1-2hrs per meal for the waiting and eating). Estimating like this isn't exact, but it does give you a good general starting point to work from. You can usually figure out if you need 1-2 days verses 2-3 and so on this way.

If you are looking for some ideas in case you run out of things you want to do in the parks, I'd look into exploring Citiwalk and the resorts. You've got mini golf, bowling, a movie theater, the Blueman Group show, themed restaurants, shopping, and pools and hot tubs to relax in.

As far as a car goes, I wouldn't worry about renting one unless you plan on using it a lot. It isn't easy to get around in general without one, but if you decide you want to go to another them park like Disney or Seaworld, there are a few ride share companies out there that specialize in taking people to and from the different theme parks, especially to and from Disney for a reasonable price (definitely less than renting a car). So, if you get there, and do decide that 4 days is just too much, you can always arrange for a ride share / shuttle to Disney or somewhere else for the day.

That's good to know. Also, fab idea about mnsshp, we went a few years ago and loved it! I think by the sounds of everyone's advice we should be fine with 4.5 days. We go on a most of the rides and are happy to repeat all our favorites! We've never spent a huge amount of time at city walk in the past so we could definitely spend more time there and visit the resorts.
Or just run around and do things quickly again and again and again.
that sounds more like it haha!
