Is 5 days obsessive?

My favourite trip before we were locals was a 10-day So Cal trip that was 2 night LA, 6 nights DL and 2 nights at the beach. We were able to take our time and it let us be flexible - ie we decided to do a proper rest day in there (when it was pouring down rain no less). My kids still talk about that trip and we are now Mkey holders and go monthly.

So no … not obsessive at all!

The most we've ever done is 4 days. It was fantastic. We've only ever done 2.5-3 days previously. 4 was perfect. We had one day were we just took it slow while the kids ran off to ride all the rides. I think we could've only done 5 if we stayed at Grand Californian or Disneyland Hotel.

If you think 5 days is great for you, definitely do it. You're not far from Anaheim Stadium. The Staples Center is pretty far away. If you mix in a beach day, that could be fun as well.

We are planning a trip to DL and were planning on doing 6 nights/5 days at DLH(1 bedroom family suite) in a few months. The 1st day we get in at 730AM to LAX so we were planning on doing a pool day/renting a cabana etc.

Just a little info it is 4 of us 2 adults/14 & 5 yr old. We were planning 1 day at the beach either before or after Disneyland. Our son wants to go look at Staple Center & Anaheim A's stadiums.... as much as he can 'look' We are from Denver and I am figuring it is like here where he will pretty much be able to get a pic outside. I went to Disneyland a lot as a kid till I was about 6 and we moved from Southern CA. I haven't been since the 50th Anniversary in 2005. This will be both the kids 1st time.

I have been told by a few people that 5 days Disneyland is obsessive. Should I be cutting it down to 3-4 days?
No

Thanks!!! I really dont want to rush. I just want a nice relaxing vacation. Yea we might rope drop but TBH I dont want to depend on it. If we decide to sleep in or take a mid day nap that goes long -- I don't want to be in panic.
If that is the vacation/touring style you want, than five days is perfect. It gives you plenty of time to sleep in, relax at the pool and/or take a mid day nap, and still get to ride or see everything that you want, and maybe even reride a few favorites.
I love this! I just want to relax and enjoy it. My husband and me are planning a couple dinners just us also and I just want to really not be rushing this trip.
5 days is perfect if you do not want to rush and still get a chance to see and do most of what you want.
Genie+ is the one that really I am going back and forth on. I am pretty sure I want the photopass but then also feel like I am not really 'understanding' Genie+
If you are pretty sure you want PhotoPass for the entire trip, I would get Genie+ because it's the easiest way to get PhotoPass. You can book it seperately, but it's difficult to find on the website. (It may be easier on the app.) Photopass is absolutely worth it. The photographers are amazing. I do not tend to photograph well, and the Photopass photographers have consistently taken excellent pictures of me.

If you have any specific questions about Genie+ and how it works, ask them. People here will probably be able to answer your questions, or point in the direction of a youtube video/blog/another thread on this message board that will explain whatever it is you want to know.

I'm going for 5 days in june, only my second trip (first in 8 years) and my partners first trip. I can really on get about a week off at my job per season, and since we are east coasters about a day on each end is for travel. My option were basically 5 days in DL or 3 days DL and maybe go to LA for universal and the WB tour. Opted for DL to make the trip more relaxing, don't have to worry about renting a car or transportation really.
We plan on hitting Strong Water tiki bar and some breweries in Anaheim when we want a change of scenery. With 5 days there really should be no rushing around for us, we just hope Fantasmic may be back by mid June and the last day of our trip Alice and Mr toad are reopening that we hope by then those are the only things we haven't done available to us..

The people saying 5 days is obsessive are the same people saying DLR is a 2-3 day park MAX.Yeah, you can do everything in 2-3 days if you bust your hump and do rope drop to close, and leave exhausted after 3 days.

5 days is not obsessive, especially with kids. It'll allow you a slightly more leisurely pace to do more and not feel rushed to cram everything in, and likely at the end you'll find you could have stayed an extra day. There is a lot to do between the 2 parks, and allowing 5 days will let you see and do almost all of it. We've gone for 7-8 days and still not been able to do and see everything we wanted to.
That's fair

The post has 14-15 year olds, so energy should not be an issue for them.

But yeah everyone has there limits, for me I can do 3 days with rope drop if I have a hotel to take a nap in during the busy afternoon hours but not everyone can.

The OP also is at the Disneyland hotel which means they can get in at 7:30 and walk on Pan and other dark rides and by 8 AM be on Space, Mickey and or Indy. They could get half either park by noon if they do the 7:30 AM but yeah its not for everyone

If you aren't doing 4 days in the parks, you aren't doing the parks right. That 5th day is always a bonus. And we always do 5 day trips. Back in the days when we did APs, we would still do 5 solid days (M-F), do a bit of park on Saturday morning and then head to beach, Sunday we would hit one of the big mega-churches we see on TV and then do a little park time/beach time, and once we even did an extra Monday - that's when we lucked out and got to be in the Christmas Day Parade filming with Jesse Palmer and Olivia Rodrigo. Anyhoo, 5 days is a great number for park days.

If you're planning on taking your time and really going slow, 5 days is totally fine. The Crypt (Staples Center got changed to Crypto.com arena) is in downtown LA which will be harder to get to, but Angels stadium is right next to Disney (I'm a much bigger fan of Dodger Stadium but that's also quite far to get to). Also Go Lakers! Even though we lost yesterday :(

Did 5 days last time I visited, and it was great! I spent all day each day at the parks and had a lot of fun. It would take 2 full exhausting days to do everything with a very dialed in touring plan, so instead you can do things at a relaxed pace, enjoy your meals, take breaks, get the 5 year old to bed at a decent hour some nights, and otherwise have an actual vacation instead of sore feet and tired, thin emotions. If you are staying on property, you can go in the mornings and then do beach, etc. when it warms up more mid day.

I'm not sure how many locals have annual passes since they have been limiting them, but I found that evenings were the busiest because of locals coming to spend time at the parks. They may not be going on Fantasyland rides, but the walkways were more congested, and the big rides had long waits. Also, later morning/early afternoon can have locals bringing kids for a day out. Early morning, only the die hard vacationers are anywhere near the parks.

I live close enough that I generally go to Disneyland around once per year and I rarely go for less than 4 park days. I like to be able to do things at a more leisurely pace and have time to do everything I want to do. Plus you're planning some non-park days. Especially if you don't go often I don't think your plan is unreasonable at all.

As others have said, 3-5 days is perfect. We used to just cram everything into a 2-day hopper, but recently started doing 3 days and its so much better, & I can't imagine that grabbing a 5 day hopper wouldn't be amazing.
