Is 5 days enough for you?

The hubby and I are taking a "very late honeymoon" trip to Disneyworld in May (not the holiday weekend, don't worry). We were planning to do 5 days at Disney, and 1 day at one of Universal's parks. We don't have kids yet, so there's no restrictions in that area.

I was thinking 1 day for each park, and then 1 extra day for "leftovers" would be enough. But my husband thinks we should just do 6 days at the park, and skip Universal.

WWYD?

5 days is not enough, IMO, although it's much easier to do with no children. I'd keep the day at Universal if you only have 6 total days.

It depends on how much you like to do at the parks, IMO. On our first trip, we had 5 days of park tickets, and did one park per day plus a half day (on our arival day) at MK. On our second upcoming trip, we decided just to get 4 days of park tickets, because we were pretty much done with everything we wanted to do at each park in one day anyway. But we also don't do a lot of rides or anything either, so we are probably the exception! I do think most people will say you need multiple days in at least MK, maybe Epcot......but probably don't need a full day at DHS! I'd do 5 park days and one Universal if it was me :)

I agree with saving universal. The trick with uni is to stay at one of the onsite hotels to get front of the line passes. IMHO its not worth the hassle of a 1 day visit. There is so so so much to do at WDW you will just get a taste in the time you will be there. Plan another Florida trip that's just for Universal...

I'm always one to say there are never enough days at Disney! My ideal trip starts at 7 nights!! With that being said I would personally do all 6 days at Disney and plan for at least 1/2 day to spend at your resort or doing non-park things. If you have your heart set on doing Universal then you should be fine with 5 park days at Disney. If your touring style means you will want to spend most of your time at the parks then you will be able to get a lot done over 5 park days. Have a great Honeymoon!:love2:

I am going down on July 11 for nine days. Right now I have five days at Disney and three days for universal. Actually I have an annual pass for universal. I am down there for nine days so I have one more day to play with. Thinking of either a second day at Magic Kingdom or a down day. Not sure yet

It would be more cost effective to just add a day to your Disney tickets, rather than springing for Universal ones.

Agreed. Once you are there for four days it is almost free for additional days something like $10 a day more per person

Our first family trip we stayed 5 nights and had 6-day passes. We were tired out by the fifth night (stayed in and had dinner delivered and canceled a character breakfast the next day). The 6 th day wasn't necessary- we mostly shopped which we could have done at DTD. Since then we have done 4 nights with 5-day passes. We are always sad to leave but tired. We go hard! The last 3 trips we even stayed moderate instead of deluxe because we were NEVER in our room. That said- next trip we are switching it up- 6 nights with only 4-day passes. We are going to try non-park days to recover and going back to deluxe. 5 days in a row for parks is plenty!

We can't do Disney in less than eight and come home refreshed. We do parks, water parks, DTD, backstage tours, dessert parties and dinner shows.

Universal is three days. If you are including travel days in that you are way short on park time.

If it were me I would do all 6 days at WDW. For our family of 6 that is plenty of time and it is even easier to navigate with just the two of you. Enjoy!

Honestly, 5 days is enough for me, although I don't mind more. My approach for a 5 day stay is to hit all the big rides in 2 or 3 days, and then slow down and take my time the remaining days. Oh, this years trip is for five days AND I added Blizzard Beach.

You may be surprised at how tired you will be. Going from opening to close is the only way for us to see everything we want at MK and Epcot, and we have been multiple times. AK and DHS are about half day parks for us. So you could do it in 4, but you will be exhausted. 6 is probably right to make it feel like a vacation and not boot camp. Universal needs at least 2 pretty much full days. There is really a lot to see and do. Skip it and do it on a different trip. Congratulations!

We always do 6 night, 7 days trips and always do everything we love in those 6 days... We do not do Universal though because I'd hate to take that extra day away from Disney. We do rope drop each morning, take a midday break to rest/swim/nap and head back out until park closing. We even repeat MK and Epcot multiple times in those 6 days.. that is why I love park hoppers! This year my trip is 10 days, so I am using this opportunity to do 1 day at Universal/IOA since I have more days at WDW than normal. So I would skip Universal and do disney for the whole time you are there.

My vote is also all 6 Days at Disney. Leave Universal for another trip. I agree with other poster who said the more days you buy, the additional days become 'almost' free. Have a wonderful Honeymoon!
