Hi! My kids are all under 8 and have never done Disney anything so I was wondering if 5 nights/4 park days would be too long?

I want to be able to go slowly at their paces and savor it all.

Also how many days at which of the two parks?

Thanks!!

Only way 4 days would be too much is if they are very young and get physically exhausted - which would lead to crankiness, etc.. But otherwise 4 days will be just fine. That gives enough time to not feel like you have to rush and they will have a fantastic time. We've gone a bunch and most often will do 4 day visits without park hoppers and do 3 days at DL and 1 at DCA. Loads more to do at DL and more rides/lands that we don't mind repeating so that works out better in our view.

4 days is fantastic, especially with young kids. Then you're not trying to cram a lot in and can take things at a slower pace.

Park hoppers and I would do DL, CA, DL, DL as your choices. If the kids really love CA, you can go over at 11am.

I think 4 would be excellent for first-timers. I think 3 days is about ideal fo rthe average DLR trip, but 4 is absolutely on the table. That gives you time to take it a little slower and take breaks and such. It'll be awesome - have fun!

After my first visit of 5 days, I've never gone back for anything more than 3 and much prefer 1-2 day trips.

If you're taking it slow, especially with younger kids, 4 days will likely be a good fit. I recommend park hoppers and only starting one day at DCA. Genie+, especially if your family are ride people is a really good tool. Load it on your app and just use your app/phone for everyone in the family.

There was another recent thread asking if 5 days was too long. I would say 4-5 days for a first time trip is perfect. For us, we're able to knock everything out in less than 3 days at both parks now (RP with several hours break at the hotel, coming back for nighttime to closing). But that is because we have been going 20+ years and know how to tour the parks/maximize Genie+. Like I said in the last thread, we've been for 12 days before and had an amazing time.

If that is what you want to do/your touring style, five nights and four days is perfect. It lets you take afternoon breaks and still gives you plenty of time to do almost everything you want. Also, it gives you the chance to reride some favorites.

If you want pictures with the characters, I would reccomend Genie+ (if you can afford it) because PhotoPass is included and its totally worth it.

With young kids, the more days the better. It eliminates the FOMO and allows you to truly enjoy your vacation. The people who I perceive to be miserable are those that are trying to “do it all” and do it in too short a time.

We are adults and still would never plan less than 4 park days. We are doing 6 nights and 5 park days. We are flying in so why not take full advantage of being there. Plus you can see all the shows, the meet and greats, parades, performers. the animation stuff in DCA. Hit the penny arcade, mainstreet cinema. Theres a lot to do that people will fly past because they are trying squeeze stuff into a shorter time. And with littles? You wont have as many melt downs because you can take breaks and pit stops. Enjoy it! They grow up so fast! We took our daughter for the first time when she was 3. After several trips through the years, She wants to go to celebrate her 21st because she has such great memories. Enjoy!

Definitely not too long. My kids are 7 and under and we usually go for 5-8 nights. There is plenty to do and we still don’t manage to do everything we’d want to. It’s nice to not feel rushed and the kids can spend more time doing what they want to, whether it’s playing at the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail for a couple hours or waiting in line to meet a bunch of characters. With younger kids there’s a lot of time spent on snacks, rider swap, naps/breaks, bathroom, etc. so we do a fraction of what we used to do in a day before kids. It’s also nice to have more nights so you have more opportunities to catch the fireworks in case they get canceled (assuming they’re happening daily if you’re there during peak season).

With PH, I’d recommend starting at DL for 3 of the days since there are a lot of rides that don’t have Genie+ for the little ones that can get busy later in the day. Without PH, I’d say 2 days for each park since I don’t think 1 day at DCA is really enough, although it depends on your interests. We spend a lot of time at DCA.

The more days the better, and the closer to the park the better, at that age.

My kids had way more stamina than I expected them to have last year. That said, having the hotel nearby helped so much when they wanted a break.
