It'll be myself, wife and 2 and a half year old and we really only wanted to 1 character meal but ended up booking 3. We have to do JoJo cause my DD loves her but when looking at places to eat at MK there were not many choices because we want to stay at the park or close to the park so we booked Liberty Tree Tavern for one night and The Grand Floridan Cafe for one night, was supposed to be 1900 Park Fare with the princesses but I guess its being remolded so was moved to the cafe. Would like to cancel one of these which one should I get ride of and what would be a good replacement either at MK or a resort that would be quick and easy to get to.

We love character meals... The boys really get into it, and it keeps them busy during the meal :), plus it gives us a chance to see characters, so we don't have to go "hunting" them down.

As long as you only attend one in a single day, and it sounds like that is what you are planning, three character meals is not too many. My kids love character meals.

We love character meals as well. We schedule at least two because my DGD has so much fun.

Three charchter meals is good for any trip. The food is generally great and the interaction with the kids and the characters makes it that much more enjoyable. Our kids always get autographs and pictures as the characters make their way around, and it seems to make the kids want to eat a decent meal rather than chicken strips and fries.

My family and I just got back from 8 days at WDW, and we booked 5 character meals. They were all great! :thumbsup2

I'd recommend you get rid of Cinderella's Gala Feast at the Grand Floridian and replace it with the Crystal Palace in the Magic Kingdom. You get to see the Winnie The Pooh characters at the Crystal Palace, plus the restaurant itself is very nice.

Have fun!

Well what do you guys think is better food wise, character breakfast or dinner? If we do breakfast instead of dinner it gives us a little more flexability the rest of the day.

We love the character meals and have booked 3 for our upcoming trip.
Just beware, many kids that age are afraid of the characters. Depending on your DD, the meals may or may not be a great time. When my son was 2 1/2, he was O.K. with the characters as long as they didn't come near him. LOL :lmao: Also, my daughter at that age, only liked certain charaters to come near her (Pooh, Piglet, Minnie and Mickey) She shied away from most of the others. How is your DD around Santa/ the Easter Bunny etc... It is usually a good indication of their reaction.
Have a great trip!

She was great with santa last year, as long as mommy was close! Didnt matter where I was as long as mom was within site.:lmao: She loves to see the bird character at Red Robin when we go there for dinner so I think she will be fine, but then again you never know. We are going to to go Kings Island this summer and they have Dora and some other Nick characters so we'll see how that goes.

Well, we went as a group of adults last year and we still did 4 character breakfasts - Chef Mickey, CRT, Crystal Palace and Epcot Princesses. We spread them out during the holiday and LOVED them all. In fact, it saved us a lot of time later cause we didn't have to queue up to meet all the characters around the park.

We have done 3 characters meal on every trip. I would love to only do 2 this time but my DH and DD insisted we have to go to Chef Mickeys, Crystal Palace and something with princesses. I don't think I'll be able to talk them out of doing 3 character meals until my DD is much older.

Sounds like your trip to Kings Island will be a good indicator of how the little one is around characters.
Overall, I found the Disney characters to be very good with the little ones. When my son wanted to see them (from several feet away) they were good about posing for pictures away from him. ( He loved looking at pictures of himself "with" the characters when we got home.)

:thumbsup2 We have 4 planned; CRT, Crystal Palace, Princess in Norway, and Chef Mickey's. With 3 children it's a must so everyone can meet their favorites! :wizard:

Stick w/ the char meals! Though since 1900 Park Fare is currently "relocated" I would strongly suggest Crystal Palace w/ Pooh and friends. The salmon is WONDERFUL!!!!! We prefer lunch as it gives us a spot to rest in nice a/c and refresh ourselves for the afternoon. Enjoy!

For our 10 night August trip with my children 4,6, & 8 I have booked 5 character meals. CP breakfast & dinner (food is great at any meal there), OHana breakfast, 1900 Park Fare breakfast (we'll do all breakfast meals late so more like a brunch-get the park early-have a late breakfast and then break at resort before going back to the park at night) and we also have Garden Grill dinner at Epcot booked.

We just back from 7 days at the CR. Here's what we did:

- Chef Mickey's twice (1st day and last day) for breakfast. We did it twice for convienience b/c we were staying at the CR and like a big breakfast. We always do this place twice b/c of the long history we have with it. Good, but definately not the best of the bunch.

- Akershus b-fast - dd3 loves princesses and she LOVED this one especially. Impressed with the food, though options are more limited than other breakfast buffets.

- Crystal Palace - b-fast before park opened; great pictures of empty park. This was, in my opinion, the best breakfast food by far.

- CRT breakfast - great experience for dd3; pleasantly surprised with the food

- 1900 park fare for dinner - cinderella is her favorite so we did this. Good, but will probably not do again.

So in total, 6 character meals - more than usual, but this was dd's 1st trip.

The quick and easy to get to is hard to say because I don't know where you are staying. I think the GF meal will be the most disappointing. We loved it at 1900 Park Fare. Put it on the list for when she is older and its back at 1900 Park Fare. In the park there is Tony's. You can get to any resort from a park, so if I assume MK and you want to try something different, consider Boma. Its a buffet so you can pick, choose get more and being at the Lodge might be a nice experience for your DD. The monorail will take you to the Contemporary, so Chef Mickey's or the Concourse would be possibilities. Check your resort TS, after a day at the park with a 2yo it might be nice to just walk to dinner then back to the room.

It is so easy to want to do it all at Disney. I had water parks, Disney Quest, etc. in the plan then I realized, he's 5 get a grip!

Liberty Tree is awesome! It is our favorite character meal. We've done it twice. The Crystal Palace in MK is ok. You may want to try that. The characters are Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Piglet, and Eyore.
