Is 2 days at sea in a row too much?

Planning a trip for 2006 and the eastern cruise is a better week and less expensive but my concern is the 2 days at sea in a row.

When we went on a 4 day the day at sea was great but the pools, particularly the Mickey pool was sooooo crowded.

Do many people get off the ship at key west on the Western or is still "crowded" on board anyways?

We will have kids ranging in age from 3-9 on the trip, all who enjoy the water.

Any thoughts? What do people do on sea days?

I love sea days. I do agree with you about the Mickey pool, but other than that I think that the ship is never too crowded. We spent the most time in the Mickey pool during port days. We even left Castaway Cay after lunch to spend a few hours in the pool. Believe it or not, we owned the WHOLE pool that afternoon. I looked at the count on the computer when I boarded after lunch and there were less than 50 people on board.

They have more activities scheduled during at sea days. Just look at one of the personal navigatiors online. We never get to do everything so there is always something else to look forward to.

I thought the two days at sea were great - it gave the kids the feeling that they knew where everything was and by the middle of the second sea day they were pretty much on their own doing stuff. To be honest with you - we really never spent too much time in the pools - we were early getting on the ship and we had the bathing suits in the book bag. They went down the mickey slide once and then headed over to the family pool. I can honestly say that the only overcrowding I observed was the Mickey Pool. The family pool never seemed that overpopulated. (just my observation)

I agree - the days at sea are actually my favorite days, and one of the reasons I shy away from the Western cruise is the missing "day at sea".

We had 2 days at sea on our way out and 1 day at sea on the return leg.

The 2 days at the beginning were bearable because we were roaming the ship and discovering it. But I gotta admit after that 2nd day I was ready for some land.

two days at sea gave us time to get acquainted with everything the ship offered. i loved it!

I also love the days at sea. The 3 days at sea on the Eastern are great. My DS5 didn't consider the Mickey pool or slide crowded at all. In fact, we went to the pool very early one day and he wasn't interested because there weren't a lot of kids. He enjoyed the slide and pools when there were lots of kids around.

Sea days are my favorite too. I would sail the whole 7 days without stopping, except for CC of course!

Count me in as another who prefers more days at sea! I love the Eastern for that reason!

We agree. We have our second Eastern coming up, with a third planned for January '06. We love everything about being at sea. It is so soothing.

Okay, I'll break the string. We prefer the Western exactly because we didn't like being stranded on the ship for two straight days. Now, alternate between days at sea & ports of call, I'd cruise for a month.

If you look closely at the Eastern, it is about 60 or so hours at sea once you pull out of Port Canaveral. But it IS a CRUISE! The ship has so much to offer--otherwise you'd fly to the islands (landing on St. Martin is a hoot--the runway is short so they jam on the brakes on a 757, then have to back up because the plane is too big to turn around on the little runway). We love the eastern, have done it once and have it booked again. The days at sea allow you the chance to take advantage of all of the wonderful choices on the Navigators.

No disrespect (which is a noun, not a verb, remember) to the Western, but I love the time at sea on the Eastern.

Well, we have the two week reposition coming up, so I sure hope two back to back days at sea aren't too much!! :boat:

I think the sea day are offered are to little. We still only had 3 sea days on our 10 day and that wasnt enough. Somthing at just being at seas on a ship makes it so special. There is so much to do on the ship anyways.

If your kids enjoy the clubs they won't mind the sea days at all. Even if they don't there are plenty of other things to do.

I enjoy the sea days and I love snorkeling in the ports of call.

Sometime there can be a problem with two sea days at the beginning of the trip. One of our kids was on a basketball team and she had to miss a tournament because of the cruise. Wasn't a happy camper for those two days  Once we reached St. Maarten all was well with the world again. But up until then we wanted to toss her overboard.

We're doing the CA->FL repo and only have 4 port days out of 14 and the one day through the cannal. We are going to have a lot of sea days. Hopefully the kids keep themselves occupied (ours are in the teen years). I'm looking forward to the relaxation!!
