Is 11 months too young for Dumbo?

Has anyone taken a baby around 11 months on Dumbo and what did they think of it? Is it worth waiting in line for?

I took my dd at about that age and yes, she did enjoy it. But would I wait in line for it? Probably not. We probably only had about a 5-10 minute wait tops, otherwise I wouldn't have done it with her. Be forewarned, Dumbo is a slow loading ride so there is almost always a long line for it.

So my advice is, if you hit it first thing in the morning, go for it. If not, just wait. When she's four she'll be begging you to take her on it and you'll have to wait in that line!!

Thanks for the information. I was figuring we would have to hit it first thing, but then lines will be building for everything else while we are riding Dumbo. Still, I will probably take him on it considering it will be his first visit to WDW and I've been on everything so many times...

Do you remember what else she enjoyed at that age? I've been told the Tiki Birds are good. I'm not sure about Haunted Mansion or Pirates of the Caribbean (too scary?). I'd like to take him on Winnie the Pooh, but I'm not sure if he would be interested. Its a small world will be closed when we are there, so that's out.

When we took DD for the first time at 13 months, she loved Dumbo and still does at age 3 1/2! Definetly get to that line first! Other rides my DD enjoyed at that age at the MK were Winnie-the-Pooh, Carousel, Peter Pan, TTA, train, Toontown Playground and character houses, Magic Carpets, POC ( she liked it then, but not now). IASW was her favorite and still is - but as you stated it will be closed for your visit. Of course the parade was a big hit as well as any of the character greetings.

We took DD for the first time in January, when she was 11 months. We've been 6 more times, since then. We take her on everything without a height restriction.

To be honest, she seems to be rather indifferent to most of the rides and attractions. She likes all the stimulation and the variety of things to look at, but the only time she really lights up with excitement is when we let her run around in one of the play areas, like the Boneyard at AK, or when we take her to the pool at the hotel. Also, she enjoys FOTLK and Playhouse Disney, and claps along to the music.

Her 3 year old brother, on the other hand, can't get enough of WDW. In between trips, he studies the park maps and plans what he wants to do the next time we go!

i think Pirates and HM will be fine at 11 months, my dd is 10 months and I don't think she would realise Pirates was scary. By 2 or 3 then HM will become too scary, but my wimpy 6 year old has always been ok on Pirates (and there is a lot she won't do)

I think that at 11 mo, the only things he will be afraid of are enviromental factors such as it being too dark or too loud. As long as he is not scared of these things, you can take him on any thing that you might enjoy!

My 11 month old was indifferent on Dumbo, but he loved Small World (we're so sad it is closed for maintenance) and Winnie the Pooh. I'd say go on Dumbo only if the line is short.

He also seemed to love SpectroMagic, and in the AK, he liked the animals on the safari. Pirates are okay except for the dark part at the beginning.

Dumbo was the 1st ride I ever went on with my father back in 1971! I was 2.....geez really showing my age! I took my DS right to Dumbo on his first trip to WDW in 2000, he was 13 months and loved it! He laughed the whole time. DD's turn will be this December when she's 8 months. It's sort of a tradition for us. Would I wait a long time on line for it? Probably, just to carry on the "first ride" tradition, but after that 1st ride, I wouldn't wait longer than 15 minutes. BTW dinner time seems to be a good time to go on it, the lines tend to be shorter.

As for the HM and POC, DS LOVED them! He's a real daredevil and isn't afraid of anything. The only possible drawback of taking him on HM is that he is obsessed with graveyards. Just kidding, it's probably not connected! It's kind of strange but he sees a graveyard and he goes nuts! (He's almost 5 now) There's a Friendly's restaurant near us with a cemetary right next door. We got some really strange looks from other customers when I raised my voice and told him if he didn't start behaving we were not going to the cemetary! The worst/best part was, it worked, he was a perfect angel the rest of the time we were there. LOL

I'm also interested to know, how did kids around this age react to the characters? I know that some young kids are afraid, but I'm hoping that 11 months is too young for that.

we took dd at 13 mths for the first time and she did love dumbo, winnie the pooh ride,carousel, small world and peter pan. she was so cute to watch when we took her to CP for dinner. she took ahold of tigger's tale and followed him all around- it was priceless!
