OH NO ----- SHE's AT IT AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!;)

Barb,
Run a quote on www.disneycruise.com and it will show you if your date is eastern or western. I would imagine that DVC or possibly Dreams Unlimited would be able to give you a quick answer about what kind of accomodations you could get that time of year with your available points.

Enjoy!
:D

Here's your info --
You've Chosen:

Itinerary:
7-Night Western Caribbean Cruise

Vacation Dates:
November 8 - 15
Cruise:
November 8 - 15

Party Size:
2 adults and 1 child

And to compare the cash value (cost). You would be paying cash at 50% off of the posted rate of.....

Category 04: Deluxe Family Stateroom with Verandah
SAILING PARTY TOTAL=$4,735.31
Category 05: Deluxe Stateroom with Verandah
SAILING PARTY TOTAL=$4,095.31
Category 06: Deluxe Stateroom with Verandah
SAILING PARTY TOTAL=$3,895.31
Category 07: Deluxe Stateroom with Navigator's Verandah
SAILING PARTY TOTAL=$3,695.31
Category 08: Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom
SAILING PARTY TOTAL=$3,355.31
Category 09: Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom
SAILING PARTY TOTAL=$3,055.31
Category 10: Deluxe Inside Stateroom
SAILING PARTY TOTAL=$2,835.31
Category 11: Standard Inside Stateroom
SAILING PARTY TOTAL=$2,735.31
Category 12: Standard Inside
SAILING PARTY TOTAL=$2,695.31

This way you can compare the 'value' of your points. WOW -- wish I could cruise at 50% off again!:D

PLEASE don't use points again! Wasn't it so much extra trouble this year? Look at those rates above. $4735 for a cat 4 means you would only be paying $2400!

It's really not that hard to rent out your points. If I were planning to go to WDW soon, I would offer to rent some myself. There are lots of people on the DVC board who can help you with that.

Here are some other posts where the use of points is discussed
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=300590

We were initially planning on cruising on points when we bought into DVC. We did our research about our 2004 cruise and got cash quotes as well as DVC points. Based on $10 a point (going rental rate) it was cheaper for us to rent our points for 2004 and pay cash for the cruise. We already have a buyer for our points and our cruise will almost be paid for. It was very easy to do. Using Paypal you do have some security with making sure you get paid in good faith.

Something to think about.:D

Why November? Not that there's anything wrong with November I would just hate to wait quite that long.....with your half off you could go in the summer at a reasonable price.

Or, you could try Sept & October.....cruising is really cheap then!

Just some food for thought.....I know you don't want to wait another whole year to go.

Barb - that's a Western, we're gong on the 11/1/03, it's an Eastern. Good luck with your decision!!!
