I'm afraid of fire. It's my one, big fear. But I don't consider it irrational. Fire hurts and kills, so I think it is logical to be afraid of it. :teacher:

Yep, snakes would do it. But don't even mention heights because they're the grand-daddy of all fears for me. Can barely walk across a bridge and sometimes even driving across one does me in. :scared1: (I won't even mention how I feel on an open staircase!) :scared1:

Both, but snakes more than spiders. Spiders are pretty easy to kill. A snake in my home would require me to move to another country.

I'm also afraid of bees (and wasps, yellowjackets, hornets. If it flies and has a stinger, I'm running the other way).

I can't choose between the two options you gave - they're pretty equal..

Others include:
Bats
Rats
Bees
Fire
Drowning

and in the past few years I have become extremely claustrophobic..

I also have a freaky fear of worms. I don't know why. I do the heeby jeeby dance whenever I see one.

Me too, they creep me out. I also don't like driving behind a car/truck that has a long pole, board or other object that could come flying through the window and hit me.

I don't mind spiders or snakes. My big fear is dentists. They make me want to run for cover every time!

The words "I do"....
:rotfl2:

Another one I have is carnival or fair rides. After seeing some investigative reporting show as to how shotty those things are put together. This was serveral years ago when my DD was around 6 and DS was 2. I just sat there and stared at the nuts and bolts and held onto my kids very tightly and couldn't wait for the ride to be over. I haven't been on a ferris wheel since then and that was about 8 years ago.

I voted snakes! They freak me out! But what scares me the most is lizzards.. don't even get me started on lizzards..

I have an irrational fear of people who have an irrational fear of clowns. :)
I hate to see grown adults cry because I am wondering the restaurants and face painting their kids and handing out stickers.

Also have an irrational fear of snakes. Maybe it was the cooperhead that tried to bite me in TX that started that one.

Glass elevators.

I won't go on travelling carnival/fair rides either. When our town recently had their Autumnfest, DS begged and begged me to go on the "SuperFun Slide". I figure since it has no moving parts, the worst that could happen is that the whole thing would collapse and hit the ground. Let me tell you that scared the bejeezes out of me.:scared1: :lmao: They must have put extra wax on it or SOMETHING because I slid down with DS on my lap and we seemed to be going SO fast. He had the time of his life while I was clutching him tightly and going "HOMGHOMGHOMG!". We shot off the end and almost slammed into the 'operator' who looked at me and said, "It's usually the KIDS who are freaking out, not the parents." like I was a big wuss. Well I am a wuss. So there.:lmao: I am afraid of the SuperFun Slide. It was NOT SuperFun.:lmao:

I am good with spiders and snakes.

Dentists, I hate. Sorry if you are a dentist. But come on. I show up, you poke around in my mouth, you say I have HORRIBLE care practices when I brush and floss daily (so I don't believe you), then you make me have a thorough gum-cleaning called a Q-scale which I've had FIVE TIMES now. Then you say, well, we have to start with the gum cleaning Q-scale, then you poke this painful thing into my gums counting how deep the pokey-thing goes and then go to the next step. But there never is a next step because the gum cleaning doesn't work so you want to do it to me again. Then, when I leave the office, I'm told by your accountant that I owe $800. So, when were you planning on telling me an estimate? What about my insurance? Why would I even want to pay you?

Sorry, there I go again. I fear dentists.

Neither on the poll but I have a crippling phobia of lobsters. Makes it hard to eat out in new places; have to do lots of research first. If I even see one in a movie, I have to take medication for the panic. I tried 2 years of therapy but nope, still hate those things.

How could I forget?? In my earlier post, I forgot to mention BATS. They have to be the ugliest, creepiest creature of all! Last night I was walking on the street at dusk, and a bat kept swooping around and freaking me out. When it swooped within about 3 feet of my head, I went sprinting back home. :teleport:

Anatidaephobia - The fear that somewhere, somehow, a duck is watching.

All of my fears are perfectly rational, thank you!:rotfl:

I just read a really bad romance novel, Strike Zone, in which a woman really did have that fear. It was one of several contrivances that were so utterly ridiculous I was cracking up with laughter while reading it.

Okay. Bugs, snakes, mice, other vermin, fine. No problem.

Irrational? I've got two. I can't crush boxes by stepping on them. It freaks me out. Go figure. And the other is that I can't let the shower stream on my face. I was nearly a lifeguard when I was a teen, so I don't have general water issues. Sigh.

Ooh, I thought of something! I'm afraid of rollercoasters. I've never been on one. I HATE HATE HATE the butterflies in my stomach feeling so I avoid it at all cost. I came very close to going on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad once, but chickened out at the last minute. That's the closest I've come to a rollercoaster. :lmao:
