What are your irrational fears? I am afraid of spiders:scared: They scare the **** out of me.

My phobia?

Bees.

I was chased by a huge swarm of bees when I was a kid and I never got over it. I see one bee and I run for cover!

I'm afraid of sharks. But I don't like thunderstorms or horses :confused3

I have a phobia of falling, but I don't consider it irrational. However, I am afraid of trash...specifically kitchen trash. I can deal with bathroom and other trash just fine, but I don't even like touching the strings of the kitchen trash bag for the time it takes me to take it into the garage and drop it in the trashcan.

Neither. I have an irrational fear of big ol' palmetto bug cockroaches!

I don't have a fear of either. I'm more willing to touch a snake than a spider, though. I can hurt a spider more easily and it might bite me.

Like some of the previous posters, I am very nervous during thunderstorms. I'm constantly looking for tornadoes, or bolts of lightning. I don't consider it irrational, considering the house next door was struck by lightning earlier this year, and a house up the road was swept away by a tornado.

I'm also very afraid of bees and other stingy types of creatures. There was a wasp in a van I was driving once, and I stopped right there in the road and jumped out of the van. My passenger jumped out as well, and I told them they had to get back in the van and kill the offensive beast or else we would just be standing on this road for the rest of our lives because I was not getting in it until the thing was dead.

I also have a freaky fear of worms. I don't know why. I do the heeby jeeby dance whenever I see one.

I definately have a fear of spiders, not sure if it falls into the "phobia" category. My only real phobia is of "little people", it's a terrible thing to be cursed with. And no, I'm not joking, it's actually pretty common but people really don't want to talk about it because everyone thinks it's pretty darned funny. Not funny at all to me I actually break out into a sweat, have trouble breathing, it's awful. :confused3 And no, FTR, I'm not afraid of the Munchkins in The Wizard of Oz but those little people in Time Bandits send me over the edge.

I have an irrational fear of crickets and grasshoppers. I am less afraid of snakes. I am well aware that it is riduculous but it is what it is.

I have to get my DH or DS10 to kill the big bad spiders for me in my house. We have those big brown creepy wolf spiders. I was walking down the hall the other night and noticed a black spider on the wall out of the corner of my eye. It was much too close and I let out a screech. My daughter came running upstairs and said she was about to call 911:rotfl2: I just can't help it. I am frozen with fear at the sight of spiders. My DH is afraid of snakes. I had to go get a snake out of our garage as DH wouldn't leave the house until it was gone.

I am not too fond of spiders either. That fear isn't all that irrational IMO though. The spiders around here can be poisonous. We found a Brown Recluse in the house last night! Talk about a heart attack. Those things can kill you. I am more afraid of those than snakes too. And don't get me started on the jumping types of spiders. I obviously must have a thing about jumping insects.

Clowns:clown: ....its totally irrational but they just freak me out

now spiders, snakes, even some of these florida bugs i'm fine with
but its those bloody clowns

I am not afraid of either spiders or snakes. I actually encourage spiders to live outside in our yard. :)

The thing I am most afraid of is needles. When I was a little kid, I had to have blood drawn and they were having a booger of a time getting it from me because I was screaming, crying and basically throwing the mother of all temper tantrums. At one point, the doctor has a nurse and my mother hold me down while I'm bawling my eyes out and he jabs me in the neck with the needle so he can get the blood he needs.:scared1: Ever since then, I've had a deep fear of needles.
When I was pregnant and had to have blood drawn umptyump # of times, DH had to hold my hand and help keep me from flipping out on the nurse. The last time I had blood drawn, DH couldn't be th ere with me because he had to watch DS. So I closed my eyes really, really tightly and started singing "It's A Small World" to myself. I'm sure the nurse thought I was bonkers, but at least I didn't start freaking out on her, hyperventilating and stuff the way I usually do when somebody comes near me with a needle.

Of the two listed on the poll, I'd have to say Spiders for me. Snakes I come across all the time when hiking, and never had any problems. But I always hear horror stories about the Brown Recluse spider dwelling in people's homes and causing some amputations of limbs or fingers. No thank you to that.

My biggest fear overall would probably be house fires. Thankfully have never been in one, but that's something I used to really worry about as a kid. Especially the thought of having one in the middle of the night scared the crap out of me growing up.

I used to have that fear when I was a younger. I had a fear of amputees too. In fact, in H.S., I had to do an essay on "what is the worst thing that could happen to you," and I did the essay on losing a limb. My teacher about blew a gasket and scolded me in front of the whole class. :confused3 I have since grown out of both fears though, thank goodness.

I can't think of any irrational fears I have now, except for maybe my fear of crossing busy streets alone. I'm always afraid I'm going to get run over.

For the sake of the poll, I would say I'm more afraid of spiders. Snakes don't bother me.

Parrots. Yes, that's right, parrots. I think they are beautiful in pictures but I get very nervous if I am actually near one, like in a pet store or something. I don't go to those live shows that use them either. :confused3

I'm terrified of fish. If I ever had to touch one I'd probably pass out. YUK!!!! And we have a fishtank at home!!! DH takes care of that!!

Of the poll - snakes.

My biggest fear overall is clowns. Those dang clowns, I have broken down into hysterical fits of crying because of those nasty things.
Another one is thunderstorms. I don't like loud noises, and this just puts me on edge.
