Does it matter what brand or kind?

I don't know that answer...just make sure you take it after you eat...I notice nausea if I don't. ;)

The side effects are pretty icky. I am very anemic - to the point that I am on IV Iron Treatments. My Hematologist told me that very little of the Iron in supplements is actually absorbed into the body.

Take the smallest dose that works, and take it with plenty of vitamin C and no dairy. Some people are able to up their iron levels without supplements at all by just following those rules when they take their multivitamin that contains iron and at about 2 iron-rich meals each day.

Ok, I didn't know any of this, thanks all.

Ferro-Sequels are good, they don't tend to cause the stomach problems many others do. However, they are expensive.

Can't say which brand is the best, but tried some before and boy did they get me nauseous!!! And I have a pretty strong stomach. To make up for it, been trying to eat lots of iron rich foods-matter of fact have box of raisins in front of me right now

I am always borderline anemic and after some serious health problem this year, I decided to add an iron supplement to my already huge repertoire of vitamins. I just bought the Walmart brand and after about 3 weeks, I feel so much better. I am more alert and have more energy. I don't notice any nausea. I should add that I also take a multi vitamin that has iron in it. I try to eat foods rich in iron, but it never seems to be enough. After I had babies, I was told to take iron supplements and the doctor said any brand would do. Good luck!

Thanks all for the advice and suggestions. I'm calling my doctor tomorrow. The test results were sent over on thursday so I hope it doesn't take long to get an appt.

I haven't found that brand matters, just make sure you find out from your dr. exactly what dose to take as you don't want to have too much iron in your body.
