I just made a pillowcase myself and I was a bit leery of it at first, but it was pretty easy. I used XEROX iron on transfer paper. First you print your design onto the paper - just a regular inkjet printer. You then clip the design from the paper so that you get rid of the white areas. My instructions (on the package) said to use the highest cotton setting, make sure the pillowcase is smoothed out and then iron the transfer on (you don't use an ironing board for this - I used a TV tray with an extra pillowcase underneath. You have to really press down hard and go over the transfer in horizontal then vertical passes, getting all of it. (I think it was for three minutes for a large transfer) Then you just let it cool and peel the paper off. Mine came out great - give it a shot!
