I am packing for my Ireland trip and would like to know if it is too cool for shorts? Also do you need dress clothes for dinner? I would appreciate any advise that someone has. Thank you!!
Debbie

I have no advice for your trip, but I just wanted to say have a super fantastic magical wonderful trip. And make sure you post pictures and a report for the rest of us when you get back, please!

I pulled a 10-day forecast for Ireland from weather dot com (sorry, can't post links yet). The temperatures during the day are showing in the low to mid 70s. If you're from the north-east, that's a nice summer day, but if you're from the south, that might be a little cool for shorts.

I can't answer your question about how dressy you need to be for dinner, but I would think a nice pair of pants or capris would be quite suitable.

Have fun on your vacation! I hope to do that tour some time in the future.

I'm another useless person informationwise who wants to send best wishes and ask you to please post a report when you return. We are doing Hollywood/Disneyland in 2008 and are considering Ireland for 2009 if it's still offered then.

I live just outside Belfast, and today the top temperature was 18degrees, I would not expect it to be much higher than this probably a bit lower, no matter where you go in Ireland.
Make sure you bring a jumper, and a raincoat, can be prone to plenty of rain here.
As for dressing for dinner depends where you are planning to eat , Posh restaurants prob a shirt and tie , but generally no.

I just got back from 10 days in London last Friday. I live in Maryland where summer temps are in the 80's & 90's. I didn't take shorts nor would have worn them out and about. It was far too cold averaging in the 60's. And a cold 60's it was.

British Isles are having one of their worst summers on record. Unseasonably cold and lots of rain. I highly doubt you'll be wearing those shorts or traditional American summer wear.

Pack some lightweight sweaters, pants, skirts, smaller short sleeve tops and a good rain-weather/fall coat. If the day is forecast for anything up to the low 20's (60's Farenheit), you'll be wearing the sweater. If it gets to the high 20's (70's Farenheit) you may strip off that sweater. At night when it drops to the teens (50's Farenheit) or if it rains in the day, you'll be wearing that coat. Also pack some good walking shoes.
