Has anyone else heard this? A friend just called and said she saw this reported and I'm wondering if anyone else has heard this and what channel it is on. I'd like to see that as it would bring peace to my mind right now.

I tend to channel surf, but I believe I heard on MSNBC that our troops were welcomed by the Iraqi's in a town they occupied.

There is a great story about it on FoxNews.com. I don't know how to post a link, but if you go to FoxNews.com you should be able to pull it up.

It's a great story.

There isn't any tape of it yet. The troops are being warmly welcomed as they move through the southern part of Iraq. Many of the Iraqi troops are surrendering, some of them to journalists. These are a people who have been under a tyrant. They know we are coming to help them. These reports are coming from many of the different reporters.

I found this at MSNBC:

In the town of Safwan, Iraqi civilians eagerly greeted the 1st Marine Division.
One little boy, who had chocolate melted all over his face after a soldier gave him some treats from his ration kit, kept pointing at the sky, saying “Ameriki, Ameriki.”

Here's the link to the rest of the story:

We won't see much of this on TV because it doesn't make for good television. Imagine the scandal....America did the right thing and the Iraqi's don't really want to be under Saddam's rule.

Well, that is nice to know. All we really hear about are people bashing George W. and how we shouldn't be getting involved in another country's business but lot's of people do tend to forget that these people have been living in fear for a very very long time. It's good that at least some one is greatful that we have "butted in."

Yeah, how dare the news channels report anything that would prove we are the greatest nation in the history of civilization.

just saw the tape of this...

loved the guy hitting the picture of saddam with his shoe!

Just now on msnbc... Safwan, Iraq with people dancing in streets and tearing down posters of Hussein.

Did anyone else notice that the article said that people who did this during the last Gulf war were KILLED by Saddam's people?? All I can say is, we'd better finish the job or the Civillian's will be at terrible risk, that is if the article was correct in saying that people who'd celebrated before were killed afterwards....

This looks a lot like the pictures my DH took in Kuwait in 91.:D Kids giving them flags etc. I do hope to see more of this.

I don't think we, or they, have to worry about this now!

Jeff

This administration has made it known that killing Hussein is top priority.... I don't think the people need to worry about us not doing it.

Actually, it makes for excellent television and it's been all over every news channel since it happened this afternoon.
