Terrorists in Iraq claimed to have kidnapped three Turkish citizens and threatened to behead them if Turkey does not pull its companies out of Iraq, the Arabic-language television network Al-Jazeera reported Saturday.

Al-Jazeera broadcast a video showing three people seated, holding what appeared to be identification documents, while two armed masked men pointed guns at them. The network did not air any sound from the tape.

The report came just hours before President Bush was due in Turkey for a NATO summit.

According to Al-Jazeera, the video is from a group that calls itself Unification and Jihad. The group is believed to be linked to Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the most wanted terrorist in Iraq who the coalition says is linked to al Qaeda.

The same group kidnapped and beheaded American Nicholas Berg and South Korean Kim Sun-Il when its demands were not met.

According to the text read by the Al-Jazeera anchor, the kidnappers called on the people of Iraq to denounce President Bush's visit to Turkey and to insist Turkish companies leave Iraq.

President Bush was traveling to the NATO summit in Istanbul after attending a meeting with European Union leaders in Ireland.

What do you care? On another thread, you're complaining because we're trying to kill terrorists.

Do you plan to make up your mind someday and stick to one side of an issue? Or are you trying to position yourself for a spot in John Kerry's administration?

See AFR if we would quit picking on the terrorists (and killing the "innocents" hanging around with them) then they wouldn't be going around kidnapping and beheading people.

You might be trying, but your just doing the same thing as the terrorists - killing innocent people.

Oh you're so right MissJasmine!! Let's just play nice with them, then they'll leave us alone. ;)

I guess the innocent people shouldn't be hanging out with the terrorists. Not a smart move on their part.

And BTW, when you can show that the United States TARGETS innocent people, then you can talk to me about us doing the same thing as the terrorists. Until then, as usual, you're just blowing smoke.

Ohh thats right the U.S would never do that - only last week this happened.

Top Iraqi security officials in the city of Falluja have dismissed US claims that a house destroyed by a deadly American air strike was used by al-Qaida fighters.

Brigadier Nuri Abudi, a member of the Falluja Brigade entrusted by the U.S. occupation with imposing security in the city, said evidence showed the destroyed building was the home of an extended Iraqi family.

"We inspected the damage, we looked through the bodies of the women and children and elderly. This was a family," he said on Sunday.

"There is no sign of foreigners having lived in the house. Zarqawi and his men have no presence in Falluja," he said, referring to Abu Mussab Zarqawi.

Nahh the U.S would never kill innocent people.

Not at all. We're targeting terrorists and insurgents. On occasion some innocents may be killed as a result. But there is a vast difference between targeting innocents and innocents occasionally being caught up in an act of warfare.

EDIT: BTW, no one's claiming innocent people don't get killed. That happens in any war. But surely you can see the difference.

What about The “strategic bombing” of the Abdul-Aziz al-Samarrai Mosque compound which killed an estimated 40 people (many of them at prayer) articulated the primary rule of engagement under the Bush Administration: there are no rules.

It makes no difference if a Mosque is violated, or if prisoners are brutalized during interrogation, or if a wedding party is bombed. (as was the case in Afghanistan) It can all be rationalized under rubric of the war on terror.

As george would rules what rules

Mosques violated? They wouldn't have been touched if the enemy hadn't used them as military assets.

As to rules of engagement, you do understand that the enemy does not identify themselves in any way, they do not carry their weapons openly in many cases, they try their best to blend into the population. That, in and of itself, is against all rules and conventions of warfare. Then you try to turn that around and say the US isn't following rules? Again, there is an enormous difference between mistakes (wedding party and prisoner abuses, which are being dealt with) and deliberately ignoring rules. I can find no instance of the US deliberately and systematically ignoring any convention or rule of the practice of warfare.

You can only see it if your mind lets you ;)

Well, see, I can easily filter through the agenda-driven propaganda ;)

If there are such cases, it should be relatively easy to convince me with facts.
