IPod vs MXP

I want to get my daughter either an Ipod or a MP3. I am totally Ipod/MP3
challenged. What is the difference and which is better?????

I don't really know what an MXP is, but I can tell you that I replaced my Dell MP3 player with an Ipod this year. I couldn't believe the difference in sound quality and the Ipod is so much easier to use. The only downside is that you have to buy from Itunes if you want to download songs or video. You can't download from Walmart or Rhapsody and have it work on the Ipod without converting the files.
