Does anyone know how to change an ipod's user identity?

Could you be more specific, like do you mean when you connect it to your computer on the top it says updating -----'s ipod? Is that what you mean, what itunes refers to the ipod as?

Yes!!! I just did this - I gave my ipod mini to my brother and wanted to rename it and put it in his name - it took me weeks to figure it out, and finally on Chritmas Day I went through the whole apple website and much googling to figure it out... (and believe me, when I found it, it was so easy!) So, here goes, hope this is what you are looking for:

http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/ I'm not sure if the link will be viewable here.. but you need to get the ipod updater.... go to apple dot com slash ipod slash download (if you can't see the link) Sign in and download the updater.. install it and then run it .. It should give you an option to restore factory settings (just remember, this will delete all the music on your ipod too!) Watch your ipod too, because at one point you may have to plug it into the wall (depends on the type you have) Once done it is all set.. Then the person you give it to can go to apple's website and register it in their name and that will change the name of the ipod.

yep, all you have to do is restore it to factory settings .. no problem ..

Ok to much info guys, When the ipod is connected to the computer and you are in Itunes, right click on the ipod in the menu on the left and rename it. That way you do not need to lose any information. That is what i did and it changes the name on the ipod as well as in Itunes. Then you can manually change, delete and add songs. No need to restore to factory settings, what a pain.
