Ipod touch ?

apparently there is a lot different between current and 1st gen...just to name a few

2nd gen has ALOT more apps, games, wifi (not sure if 1st gen has that), also you can go directly to the Itunes store on 2nd gen whereas you have to connect the unit to your CPU to download songs

The 2nd generation has a speaker...invest in the 2nd generation...it is awesome!!

I check the apple website periodically for refurbished touches and all I ever see is the 1st gen for $179, guess you were lucky, or maybe I just keep checking at the wrong time.

2nd gens are at the Apple refurb..but not very often.

I would go for a 2nd gen. We got my son one for Christmas at Best Buy. At that time there was an incentive gift card for $50 with purchase and a slightly reduced price.

I got a refurbished 1st gen 32G Touch from the Apple site, and it has WiFi (Through which I can connect directly to iTunes; I don't have to go through my CPU to download songs.), and I can download as many apps and games as I can fit on it. The only things it doesn't have that the 2nd gen does are the external speakers, volume control buttons on the side, and the Nike+ feature. It was a little harder to find a case for it, since all you can find in stores are cases for 2nd gen, but I finally found a great one online. All worth it to save over $100!!
