ipod shuffle problems. Can you help?

Whenever we plug DD's ipod shuffle into our Mac, itunes freezes up and freezes everything with it. We have to end up doing a force quit.

Also, when we plug her ipod into the Mac, the ligh on it flashes from green to orange and back and forth which it shouldn't do.

Any suggestions?

I had the same problem with my dad's ipod shuffle. In our case, we uninstalled everything, then reinstalled the software using my DS's install cd. Everything was fine then. There mus have been a software cd problem.

Two questions....have you ever gotten it to work? if so, then my second idea won't matter. If no, can you borrow someone else's software cd and start all over?

You have to do a hard reset and clear out the ipod. It's been a while since I had to do this, so I'm not exactly sure which buttons you push to do this. I went to the IPOD website and they have a forum area. That is how I found out what to do. Once I did this, there hasn't been anymore problems. That was over a year ago.
