IPod Questions?

From one Terp to another (1984, and I don't admit that much!), I bought my daughter's Ipod last year on Black Friday. The Ipod wasn't discounted, but Best Buy was giving out $25 itunes gift cards with every purchase.

Do the refurbished ones look new or used?

Sounds like a good way to save some money but since I'd be giving it as a gift I don't want it to look used.

Thanks!

If you plan to give an ipod this Christmas, I'd suggest that you buy it fairly soon. It's not likely to go on sale (because the demand is so high), and last year I know they were completely sold out in my area.

The model depends on what capabilities you want. Video & music or just music. I bought my dd a Nano (in black - she was VERY specific on what color she wanted) and I wasted $$ on buying the 4g model because she will never fill it up. Literally, while the Nano I ordered was being shipped to me, Apple released the video IPOD.

Be sure to look for discounts, like an education discount if you buy direct through Apple. Also, find out what color (usually black or white) your son prefers.

Buy a skin to protect the IPOD and include it as a part of the gift. DD opened her Nano gift first and then the skin and the nano went right into the skin and hasn't been out since. The skin I bought is made of clear polycarbonate and has a window for the dial on the front and access openings everywhere needed.

By the way, I did shell out the extra bucks for the extended warranty - I think it was about $70 for 2 years. We haven't needed yet - but, from what I've read - if you don't have it and something happens to your gadget - you may as well throw it in the garbage.

PS...I also got DD's name engraved on the back of the Nano for free. It's small print and looks nice.
My son's middle school had a bingo night and he won a IPOD Nano. He is so excited as are my DH and myself. Now we don't have got think about going out to get him one.

I do know that the Apple store offers a discount if you trade in your old IPOD (working or non working).

I second the buying from Costco, they have an excellent return policy so you are pretty safe with any purchase you make from Costco.

Hope this helps.

i have been looking at Ipods as I want one. I went on apple.com and pick everything I wanted. It was the pink 4gb with warrenity and a nike arm holder. I think it came to be about $250. i wanted the black one but it is 8gb and I think $250 just for the ipod not including the rest. I printed it out and gave it to my mom and told her that this was my christmas list.!!!

If you are going to spend $250, then I would get the 30gig video ipod that is selling for $249 (the 80gig sells for $349). It will hold 7000 songs,75 hours of video and 15,000 songs! Go to the apple website for more information. You can also buy Pirates of the Caribbean from itunes. There is also software out there that will allow you to convert your DVDs to a file that will fit onto the video iPod.

Just a side bar. Remember folks, when you download videos and music off of Itunes, it is not free. You pay for each download. My son (16) recieved an IPOD last Christmas and while he loves it, we have to monitor how much he is spending on music. He will definitely blow his entire allowance if we let him.

Thanks for the info everyone! I'll have to check out Costco and do some research about video vs. not.

Hi JerseyGirl84 - Terp! I'm older than you are (1979 graduation)!
