IPod question

I do work for a public school district. Do I have to order directly through Apple's website in order to receive the teacher's discount? Thanks!

DH ordered my 60G Video iPod from the Apple site with the homeschool discount and gave it to me for my b-day last week. I LOVE IT!!! He also bought me the iFusion speakers which are AWESOME. So, I downloaded lots of songs (I honestly don't have that many to start with, but I put at least 12 Christmas CDs along with some non-Christmas music (Wishes, Illuminations, etc). I also downloaded 4 videos for DDs on the airplane for our trip, downloaded a bunch of photos (plan to use it for photo storage on the trip) AND I backed up my important docs (it's an external storage device for data, too) and I *STILL* have something like 58G available! :earseek: The sound is amazing, as is the video (albeit a bit small). It's not "just an MP3 player", it really is a small computer that has quite a few capabilities.

That said, DH is looking for something just for the music, so I'm getting him the sandisk for Christmas, but if you are wanting something that is more multi-purpose, an iPod is an excellent choice.

I wish I were still a student, but I'm not. Is there a teacher discount on it? I doubt it, but it never hurts to ask. :)

Yes, a student and educator discount. It is the same for both. If you into the Apple store make sure you have a picture work ID, paystub, photo ID you should be fine. I also brought my union card just in case.

My concern is the price. $199 is a lot of money to spend on a 'toy.' I can't justify spending that much money on something, especially when I have a WDW trip coming up. But, I love the convenience of it. Not having to buy complete CD's just for one song is a great convenience. Thoughts? Suggestions?

I got my iPod (a 3rd gen 15GB) nearly 2 years ago at a cost of $300. I hemmed and hawed about spending that kind of money for 6 months prior to buying it. I've never regreted it for one single minute. I listen to music more now than I ever did. I hook it up in my car, listen to it on the plane when I fly, listen to it at work (it's acceptable at my company to do so). I don't think you'll be sorry.

Last year, the Apple Store online had a sale the day after Thanksgiving (tomorrow). You may want to check it out and see if you can combine the educator discount.

Wow I didn't know there was a student discount. Thanks! But I noticed they no longer sell the older mini's online. I was thinking about buying one for myself. I guess I can keep checking for them before Christmas. Everyone is upgrading. I don't think I could figure out how to use the newer versions!!

my ipod is AMAZING! i have an older one, but it works just as well even after two years of almost daily usage. it was definately worth the 200+ dollars i paid for it. now, i am even thinking about getting a video ipod since i love this one so much!
