I've encountered many iPod owners who haven't yet discovered the joys of podcasts. If you haven't checked these out yet, you should! They are FREE!!

Go to the iTunes Store and click on podcasts. You will see there is a wide variety of topics. Choose one that is of interest to you and click on it. You can read the description, then scroll further to read any reviews. If you like it, click subscribe. Once you subscribe, you can click on any episodes in the podcast that you want.

There are podcasts for non-video iPods and video podcasts.

Some of my favorites are: Discovery Channel, NPR stories, puzzles, Animal Planet Presents, BBC Mindgames Magazine, NBC Nightly News, Food Network, Japanesepod101, Celtic Folk Podcast, Comedy Central.

There are a variety of children's stories and videos.

Yesterday I discovered Podiobooks- audiobooks in podcast form for free! I'm listening to one called Heaven, and my 11 year old son is really loving one called Shadowmagic. These obviously are not mainstream books and there aren't a lot yet, but I love the idea of free audiobooks!

So, if you haven't tried podcasts yet, you should! I love the stories from NPR or National Geographic for working out. They keep my interest much more than music does (and I'm a musician by profession!)

Hey, since you seem to enjoy Disney, you ought to check out the absolute wealth of Disney podcasts on iTunes, even a great one from our hosts wdwinfo.com.

Each podcast is wonderful in its own way!

I just found these too! I have a couple of WDW ones: The DIS and Inside the Magic. I also have NPR and a couple of the NBC news ones. They are GREAT!

WOW - thanks for the tip - that is great! :thumbsup2

I do mostly the video poscasts. My current update has:
Attack of the Show - funny clips from youtube, etc
Ask A Ninja
DCOM
MTV News
TrailerCast
Veronica Mars
Best Week ever
Vintage Tooncast

There are quite a few Disney ones out there that have personal video of the rides and attractions in the parks. Its a nice way to relive your vacations on cold days!

Okay, I downloaded one, but now how do I play it? Does it need to be on my iPod or can I play it directly from iTunes? Sorry for being so clueless.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE :love:podcasts. Been listening to them for several months now. In fact, that's about all I listen to--hardly ever listen to music.

Here's my list of favorites:

Pediacast (recorded by dh)--has become hugely popular in the 6 months he's been doing it and is actually a "featured" podcast on iTunes!!!

Radio Adventures of Dr. Floyd--great for the kids--whole family too.
Manic Mommies--love this one
Me and the Bean--love it, but they don't put them out as much as I'd like
Redboy Podcast--great couple cast....and Disney Lovers to boot
Israelisms--a view from Israel. Interesting stuff
comedy4cast---comedy in 4 minutes or less. Funny stuff.
Griddlecakes Radio--storytelling. Kids love it, but it's interesting for adults too
Kidswifeworklife--another couple cast.
Dave Ramesy--financial motivator.
Creating Wealth on Your Current Income--another financial one.
No Credit Needed--the guy is a bit goofy, but he's got great content

The TryPod network (www.trypodnetwork.com) has a great list of quality podcasts.

Either. Just go to it in iTunes and click it twice....it should play. Or snyc your iPod and you can take it to go.

Or, usually, if you go to that podcast's website, you can listen directly off of the net.

Thanks. I tried clicking twice and it didn't seem to be working. I'll try again. :)

Hmm....weird. I just went to my iTunes and clicked twice on a podcast and it worked. Maybe go and highlight it, then click the play button.. :confused3

My DH loves podcasts and was just showing them to me last night. I am now hooked on the Disney podcasts. DH's favorite is Ask A Ninja. It has to be the silliest thing I have heard in a long time, but really funny.

Ok, hang on a sec. First you need to "get" the episode before you can play it.

So let's just use my dh's podcast as an example. Go to the iTunes store. Search for "Pediacast" His page should come up....
Then on one of the episodes that is listed, Click on "get episode."

That should put the episode in your iTunes library.....
Go to your iTunes (out of the store)...like where all of your music is listed, but then click on Podcasts. It should be there....
THEN double click on it and it should play (or sync your iPod)

You can also "Subscribe" to podcasts so that everytime a new one comes out, it will automatically download it to your iTunes library. :)

This help?

Well you can listen to it either way. Sometimes I listen to them through my computer/iTunes while I'm cleaning up around the house, or I can listen to them on the go with my iPod. Now that you've downloaded it, just plug in your iPod to your computer and iTunes should update your iPod automatically.

Now, I'm assuming you have a video iPod or a Nano, click on Music and then podcasts, and then scroll down to find the podcast you want to listen to. Voila!

It works from the store, but not from my library. Weird. But at least I got it working. :)

Okay, I think I discovered the problem. Some of the podcasts don't seem to be working. I had just happened to download one of those. :)

Thanks again!

Hmm, I've tried most of those but there's a couple there I haven't. Out of the ones I've tried, I only listen to one regularly. . .absolutely cannot stand the others. I'm not going to name them and mean no offense to those involved with them, but I've worked in radio for years and I get super picky with what I listen to. I need to stop, but I get very critical of peoples' voices (not nearly as critical as I am of my own voice, LOL) and the simplest things can grate on my nerves now. . . working in radio totally ruined radio for me, LOL.

Hopefully I can find at least one other Disney one to add to my collection.

For those of you just getting started - be sure to check your favorite shows to see if they have podcasts. Lost has a decent one - they interview a different actor each week at the beginning and the rest of the show is Damon and Carlton (producers/writers) talking about the last episode and previewing the upcoming episode and answering questions from fans and giving hints about what to expect (or not expect) in the future.

For Scrubs fans, they have a pretty unique one. Some weeks they do a commentary that they'll release before the new episode. You set it up to run when the show starts and it ends up being like the commentary tracks on the DVDs.

I'm guessing you got it to work, DisneyAddict_M? Since we haven't heard from you? Are you lost in the world of podcasts now??? :rotfl2:
