For anyone with experience:

My nephew got an MP3 player for Christmas. I have an iPod. Is there any way to download music from the iTunes music store that can be played on his MP3? I'm more familiar with iTunes, but am having trouble understanding some of the other sites for downloading music.

Appareciate any help.

Terri

Don't know if you can use i tunes, my son has used ares in the past with no probs. hope that helps.

I am curious to know this as well. I have a Sandisk MP3 player that accepts WMA or MP3 file formats.

I just did this today with sandisk.

Make sure your MP3 player is plugged into your computer.

Open you itunes, press edit, then select all or select the songs you want by clicking on them and holding control + c button.

go to edit again and click on copy.

Then go to start, my computer, select the correct drive, I did two of the same MP3 players and once it showed E and once it showed F.

Now go back to itunes, select edit, then paste.

I saw a little musical note going back and forth on the sandisk player, that is how I knew it was working.

Hope this helps :wave2:

You can not put purchased songs from the iTunes store on his MP3 player. The songs purchased from the iTunes store can only be played on an iPod. You can burn the songs to a cd and rip them back into iTunes as an MP3.

PS.

Yes I know there are tools that will allow you to strip out the DRM from the songs from the iTunes store, however they are against the TOS of the iTunes store, and under the DMCA are illegal.

So where can you get songs for an MP3 player if not from Itunes? A couple of my nieces & nephews got MP3 players & I would like to gift them with songs but the only things I have heard of was Itunes.

you can use Napster or even yahoo music to download songs to any MP3 player including an Ipod. I love using Napster!

If I understand correctly, with Napster, you have to continue the monthly subscription or lose the rights to listen to the downloaded music? It is like you pay for the use (even on the MP3) in monthly installments or else the music is cut off. I am considering using WalMart instead of Napster because of this.

Iheard of this before. But how do they cut the music off? If you've downloaded it to an mp3 how can they stop you from listening to a portable device? Very confusing.

The DRM on the rented songs has a time limit of one month. In order to continue listening to the songs you have to connect the mp3 player to your computer once a month so it can check to see if you are still paying the monthly fee. If you don't connect the mp3 player, the rented songs will stop working.

What about the prepaid cards? My son used one for his birthday and was able to download to our computer, then to his mp3 and then put it on a cd. We don't pay a monthly fee and this was back in November and it all still works.

I am new to the MP3 thing, if I use my CD-RW drive on and put songs into my software, can I then download them onto my MP3??

Thanks

I could be wrong but I think you can download songs from I-Tunes store in Mp3 format just as you can rip a CD into I-Tunes I haven't done the store yet .

I do use I-Tunes for my CD's to put on my Phone & Mp3 player as well as DD MIX Stick.

I just use the drag & drop method useing Win.EXPL.

Open MyDOC>MYMusic>I-Tunes>Compulations and drag them to my Players.

My children have Ipods and my DH has an MP3 and yes you can do this. If DH has music he has downloaded they want he just burns it to a CDRW and then downloads to their Ipods. And he does the same from Itunes to his MP3. Not sure if there is an easier way because I do not do anything with this stuff but I do know the rewritable CD's are the only way to go. Otherwise you waste alot of CD's.

Remember you can download from any CD you have you would like to borrow from someone. My daugher has over 9 hours of music on her IPod and she has only spend $12 from an Itunes card.
