I emailed Heidi yesterday about having my ipod at our wedding (we are having a custom) as we dont really want a dj but still want some sort of music.

Here is her response
In regards to using an IPOD, we have been getting several request for that. Usually in a ballroom, we can do it but when it comes to special venues, it is a bit harder to get approval for that. In resort ballrooms you are looking at the following:

(2) Speakers with Stands
(1) DI Box
(1) 4-Channel Mixer
Appropriate Cables
I-Pod MUST be charged and ready to go
Starting at around $250.00+

Just thought some of your might like to know this

Well I'm relieved to hear that they are making some effort to save us some money. My only problem now is that i've switched from having my reception in a ballroom at BW to the living seas. I hope something similar is available there...
Thanks for the info!

hmm...good to know the ipod option is there, though my ipod is so old and only holds about an hours charge lol. But we would actually save money if we bought a NEW one and paid the fees associated with using it...rather than the $1500 or so for a dj! :) (ironic..DF's name is DJ lol!)

Yay! I'd much rather pay $250 or so to use an ipod with songs I want than pay $1500 for a dj that no one will even pay attention to.

And I know my family members would kill me if someone tried to rope them into anything cheesey (i.e. macarena, etc.) :rotfl2: . This way you can just have nice background music on.

The only thing I'm concerned about it coordinating the "first dance" with all of that. I wonder if you're able to secure a microphone for that sort of thing, as well as toasts? Hmm.

That is great that they are letting people use the IPOD to save some money. I often thought of that but we ended up using DJ Scooter through disney. He was a great commentary and livened up the party without those strange dances and props. I wouldn't have wanted the hasle of making sure the IPOD work properly and at the right times of the night so paying the money was worth it to us.
I look back now after having our home reception where we hired a DJ for $500 and what a different between Disney DJ and the one we had. All night at our home reception I kept having to tell the DJ what to do or what was happening next or what to play, I should have just used my IPOD for that party and saved some bucks.
With Disney we gave Scooter a CD of songs we wanted played and he took over the rest of the night. Everyone at our Disney reception ended up on the dance floor including the ones who never dance.

I'll remember this post in case we do decide to go with a DJ! I haven't read anyone's reviews on their DJs yet, so it's good to know that they are willing to listen to your input.

Dj Scooter...writing THAT in my planner! party: Thanks for the GREAT advice!! I was an inch away from deciding to use and ipod...but you made some great points. Thanks :flower3:

It sounds like the IPod makes a lot of sense for an intimate, and is a possibility for some customs, but if you've got specific things you want played at certain times, the added convenience of having someone handle all of it for you probably outweighs the savings in many cases. thanks for posting all the info!

Now I have a question. I didn't see this on the official site or in the wishbook, does the dance floor and lighting come with the DJ package? Or do you need to pay for that separately if you're in an area where you need to bring in a dance floor? Thanks!

how cool... Now you wont have to worry about having the DJ play music you dont want:thumbsup2

I believe the floor and lighting package are a separate charge - but someone correct me if I'm wrong!

That's a great option for those wanting to save money... You could always get a family friend or someone you know to act as DJ if that is an option.
